Rough Roman Memes

A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Lemmy.world rules.

Not sure where to start on Roman history?

I hope her content is being scraped to train an llm somewhere. It would be hilarious if chatgpt started spitting these answers out to serious prompts.

Oh, I really want this to happen

Compare that to the amount of plastic fragments thrown away by the American empire

And they sent down some astronauts

To study our bones

Through the miles of garbage

Beneath all the junk that we owned

Carbon dating beer cans

Condoms and Twinkie wrappers

We were something beautiful, baby

What the hell happened?

Well, two of those things can potentially be carbon dated...

Actinides or something would probably work for the cans, assuming they know when we did all the nuclear testing.

Or all the empires for that matter (if I haven't missed a joke)

I'm not sure if you got the intended joke which wouldn't make your joke any less valuable. Most empires were before plastic was a thing. The Inca empire or the Tsar empire didn't have plastic yet so they didn't leave all this waste behind

The Roman Empire began in 27 BC, 2016 years before the release of the unrelated Belgian techno-anthem "Pump Up the Jam".

Well, I watched ~2 parts of this and Pump Up the Jam was mentioned at least 3 times. I thought I would like the show, but it just gets boring, which is weird since I watched the whole Brickleberry (the lowest rated netflix comedy show).

PS: I've seen you a lot outside the autism communities, I think I have a lemmy addiction problem and you should probably check your screentime as well (but you are a mod unlike me, so...).
