This is almost as dumb a take as the one that was absolutely certain Putin blew up his own pipeline.

I agree. Treating blasts on any oil and gas pipeline as a whodunit misses the point. The point being that hydrocarbons are killing the climate and we have to stop using them.

Who the fuck cares.

The pipelines should never have been built, from an environmental and a geopolitical standpoint.

Now they no longer exist and the world is better for it. We should be thanking whoever blew those up or at least having enough sense to stop looking into it. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that.

"If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine again, then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."

President Biden - 8 Feb 2022

When asked how, the president says, "I promise you, we will be able do that."

[–] masterspace@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Sure, but who blew up Nord Stream 1?

German officials have literally put out a warrant for a Ukrainian citizen in connection to the sabotage. Journalists with sources close to the investigation have been writing that the sabotage has connections to the Ukrainian army and the political leadership in Ukraine.

Putin might be dumb, but he's definitely not dumb enough to blow up his own pipeline. And yes, who blew it up matters, because at the end of the day the taxpayer has paid for it.
