Or.. now we know, that they know.... Ad infinitum.

So now they have to wonder each time .. dis real or blow up..

It's already an issue. People have to guess based on the color of smoke after the boom to guess if it was real or not. White smoke only was probably a decoy. Black smoke was probably real. Both sides have been using these for at least months now.

I'd probably send a team around to places to setup decoys for a picture and then remove it. So if you later use the spot and get hit you maybe have some mind games to play.

I mean its nothing new. You could make the case of Russia passing up real f16 they think could be decoys.

Reminds me of what the allies did in WW2. From halftracks with loudspeakers and firecrackers to rubber tanks and empty tents. Decoys can be very effective, hope they are working well.

There's a story of the royal air force dropping a single wooden "bomb" on German decoy planes just to make fun of them.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

If I recall correctly...they waited for the German decoy to be finished and then they dropped the wooden bomb.

Ghost Army!
I'm still waiting for a movie on this.
Maybe by Guy Ritchie, or someone like this.

I wonder if you can buy these things privately.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, this will make halloween a lot easier, I bet I can get 4 kids in there.

It could be fun at birthday parties too. You could even make a business out of renting it.

After the war and they aren't needed, probably but they'll be expensive. They aren't just blow up things. They have heaters that properly heat and keep warm sections of the vehicle to look realistic, and things like that. There's radar truck decoys that have a rotating scanner, for example. These have been around from both sides for a bit now.

[–] VerifiedSource@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

They also have radar reflective paint.

Piss off Santa, I want one of these on the lawn at Christmas.

Piss off? I want Santa in the cockpit! 😂

As long as they're not a children's hospital I think they're safe.
