Just thought Nerd Fonts should get some more love & attention

Nerd Fonts patches developer targeted fonts with a high number of glyphs (icons). Specifically to add a high number of extra glyphs from popular ‘iconic fonts’ such as Font Awesome, Devicons, Octicons, and others.

Do Nerd Fonts use the Unicode private use area?

It seems not. It seems like they replace CJK characters instead.

The PUA seems like the right way to handle this.

They also have a script patcher that makes it so you can use any font. A really useful feature if you replace fonts in programs or games, but the program doesn't fall back to a safe font if a character isn't supported.
