I was a big fan of waiting and just friends. I've always liked him and never found him particularly irritating. And to be fair to him, he's been vocal about wanting to play Deadpool for like 20+ years, so he and many of us have always known he was the perfect person to play him.

People who are annoyed by Ryan really just don't like Deadpool except maybe aesthetically, and Deadpool was never supposed to be generally likable. Especially not to stuck up critics.
He's not Superman, Spiderman or even Batman. He's different. He's like if Robin's asscancer dislodged, made it's way to the sewer, and grew up into a real boy. The buttbaby of Batman's boytoy.
He sort of does the 80's movie lead protagonist thing. Like Bill Murray in Stripes and Steve Guttenberg in Police Academy.
Van Wilder plays a mean Deadpool.
I liked him in 2 guys and a girl too
