From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

If you notice that the only limit is file size — there are multiple file-size limit settings in the Nautilus Preferences window. Each of the settings is for a different kind of storage, e.g. local, USB-attached, and remote.

If you notice thumbnailing is format-limited, you need to install the appropriate Gstreamer codec (i.e. not plain ffmpeg codecs!). Nautilus video thumbnails are usually created via the Totem video player, so that needs to be installed too (there should also be a package named something like nautilus-totem-thumbnails [no guarantees on the package name]).

Does the "large" matter? Do you have ffmpegthumbnailer installed? I think GNOME also uses that. Also get the extension manager flatpak, there is an extension for nautilus previews.
