Christmas gifts unless you actually communicate and confirm what someone wants (which based on my culture can be seen as rude) seems so pointless. Just buying short term garbage for the sake of “giving”.

MODERATORS
Even if you ask for it: what's the point? At least once you're an adult, the value of gifts you get and give are roughly the same. So you end up spending money and transaction costs to buy things that are not quite what you wanted in the first place.
The entire institution of calendar/event based gifting is pointless and produces garbage, conflict and disappointment.
