Was the Chinese jet sent along in case the Russian one broke down and the pilot needs a ride back?

Just send a Ukrainian in a T-shirt and gym shorts armed with a MANPADS. He'll shoot both down then go back to doin' his thing.

I have my doubts that China needs Russia for anything other than cheap oil and military weapons designs. With Russia tied up in Ukraine any posturing at this point is kind of a silly drill, IMHO.

Who knows... It could be something bigger later, but not now or for a few years after the Ukraine conflict is over.

Well, Russia is becoming a huge market for Chinese business as the Western companies exodus out of the country.
