I washed my hair. Made it through work. Left work on time πŸŽ‰ big batch of black beans in the instant pot to get me through lunches for the rest of the week. Fighting a stinking headache but life is feeling...beige today. Not black. I will take that.

hugs

one day at a time 🐱

but you are doing more than just that, you are making good positive efforts that make your whole week better 🌞

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You absolutely smashed it today!! πŸŽ‰ That sounds like a win on a lot of fronts, much less to have to handle along the headache. Hope you can hit the hay early and it resolves quickly

Thanks mate. I'm out of whack. Good food and sleep will help I am sure

it's been a year since I got dumpedThis time last year, I was crying at the drop of a hat! Now I'm not! Woohoo.

In this year, I have

  • seen a therapist who thinks I have autism. If I didn't have a whole embarrassing emotional outburst to my ex, I wouldn't have been able to find a pattern of shitty autistic behaviour, and doing so has helped a lot with the self-compassion side of things.
  • worked on the tolerating uncertainty and fear of abandonment stuff, and having enough going on in my life to the point where I can recognise anxious attachment patterns and redirect formerly prominent schemas
  • started music lessons
  • tried meal prepping and group workout classes
  • leaned on my friends and had lots of fun being silly
  • watched many great movies (I think this was one of the best outcomes of the relationship besides all the lessons - he made me realise I'm a movie person, I made him realise he should be a better listener?)
  • seen some live music - I want to see more
  • grown into myself a bit more and felt a bit more confident in who I am
  • realised that I'm masking a lot of the time socially and that's probably why I'm always exhausted when I'm not hanging around super close people

re: dating, it would be nice to try again, but I'm kind of just hoping that works out in the background if it's meant to. I don't really want to go on the apps because I'm not photogenic, even though online communication is easier. Maybe next year, but for now, I'm going to enjoy my peace.✌️ and whoever comes into my life, whether it's friends, acquaintances or a potential partner, will not take my peace away from me :))

Well said! Nobody ever claimed that growing up was easy, but you've been through the wringer alright. Props to you for realising this. You've got this in so many ways.

What the hell, it's so warm outside?! Was expecting to be freezing on my walk home from work but no...

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The weather’s broken again :(

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago

I guess I'll make the most out of it and try and leave work on time tomorrow for a nicer walk!

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 2 days ago

I don't care how warm it is, I am wearing my hoodie in protest of climate change at this point.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 points 2 days ago

Such a beautiful night for a walk, that sunset was stunning!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I am currently and slowly putting masking tape all around the big ornate mirror before I paint the frame. It's very fiddly. After masking tape around edges then I'll tape paper to cover the glass. I've never seen a window or mirror cleaned up well after paint drips so I'm taking a lot of care.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Reasons my stairs are not being done with a spray gun. It would take half a year* to tape everything off properly.

Gina Rinehart blames Trump scare campaign for Liberal election loss

swearing (lots of it)Who in the almighty lord of fuck cares what that stupid fat mole thinks!? Fuckin embarrassing ABC even make this a "headline". Who the fuck asked her for a quote? And since someone was obviously talking to her; why didnt they tell the pretentious turd to piss off out of the country whilst they were at it?! Jesus the media in this country is a joke.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

it's always gotta be "scare" with these fckin moles, they're literally incapable of realising sane adults looked at their behaviour and decided to use their vote to stop it.

Jesus that meeting was brutal, I almost fell asleep several times.

My pet hate is when someone does a power point and puts in so much information that the text is so tiny you can’t see it on screen..

I've been dealing with hot flushes for a few months now (not typical for a bloke obviously) but just hasn't been a priority to deal with. Then for some reason the flu vaccine kicked off a dramatic intensification that is still with me three weeks later. Full body aches, headache, swollen lymph glands in my neck.

The working theory is that a simmering CMV or EBV infection had room to boil over while my immune system was distracted. Kissing too many boys?

Anyway, I've never been sick like this for this long.

About ready to politely request an induced coma.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

thank you for reminding me to get my flu shot!

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Get it up ya! Might be a voucher for a free one through your health insurance or work too

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

i dont think so sadly. But I'm gonna go with my kid and show him its nothing to be scared of so its worth paying to have that experience I guess.

You're right, I'd better ask if they think it's cooties and how long I have left to live.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Doctor: I diagnose you with cootietis. The only effective treatment is to suck as many dicks as you can; semen has healing properties

You bring a "that should've been sent to a private group chat" vibe to the DT which I really respect.

Appliances Online price matching was very easy. I found a good price on Amazon but didn't want to actually shop on Amazon. A few minutes on chat and I had $180 off. Very nice.

This means I am getting the upgraded toaster oven to the one I currently have, which has air fryer mode. My old one is getting very tatty and is just a standard oven, but I use it all the time. There are very few days I don't cook something in it. I made the mistake of using a corrosive oven cleaner on it and it did not go well. It still works fine but the inner surface is now all visibly damaged.

Noooo, I have to be in an afterwork meeting.

So tired!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Miss Meow's garden theme scratching post arrived. Except it is actually a children's foam couch ☹️

Now I have to take it back to the post office for a refund.

Edit: scrap that, I'm keeping the couch. I just had a look at what it is, and it is very similar to the foam mattress I was thinking of getting for the back of the van. And it's worth over twice as much as the cat tree. So I've just ordered another cat tree and won't return the couch.

More Edit: I just unrolled it. This thing is massive! It's basically two single mattresses on top of each other, which fold in the middle. Plus two wedge shaped cushions. It could easily be used for two single beds or one double bed.

I just went through 2 sets of Lego to make sure all the pieces are there so I can give them to my neices and nephew. Moshi monsters and Smurfette are all there. That took an hour of my life.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago

In a plot twist Miss Meow's missing garden themed cat tower arrived this afternoon - it was actually the other (slightly more expensive) tower which the couch was sent instead of. When I went through the refund process for that one they offered me $16 to keep the couch. And the one other one has been marked down $5 since I ordered so I was able to claim that too. I've now re-ordered the right cat tree and can keep the couch legitimately.

I'm looking forward to being able to take some stuff to the new house this week, things are a bit chaotic with both packing happening and new stuff starting to come in.

This weather is nuts. Sunny and a hot dry wind in May? My washing is appreciating it but it’s discombobulating me.

I watched this show called Toxic Town on Netflix. I don't want to give too much away but it was about a group of mums in the uk who took the local council to court because their babies were born with limb deformities. Based on a true story. It was really good. 5/5 🍿

I think I need to make a sign that says "Go away, I'm napping" When I take my breaks.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 10 points 2 days ago (4 children)

My friend has a t-shirt that says "fuck off I'm coding" on the back. If anyone bothers him while he's in the zone he packs up for the day and goes home.
