Trump has shown that he doesn't care about the constitution by violating the 5th and 14th amendments, and he's toying with the idea of violating the 22nd and MAGA so far has been complicit. Do you think they might say something if he comes for the guns?

You mean if he said something like "Take the guns first, go through due process second"

Because he said that and they voted for him anyway.

For the people with gold fish🐠 memory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcmCgYX90kM

Take the firearms first, and then go to court. Because that's another system.

You all don't get it. He is absolutely going to do this, but only for people he doesn't like, and his fans will eat it up. Yes, the very same people who get all up in arms (literally) whenever a Democrat suggests that maybe there should be some restrictions on some weapons will enthusiastically cheer when the Trump government confiscates guns from people with too much melanin.

"We know that good, honest, God-fearing folk know how to take care of their guns, so we're going after the Gangbangers first!" And you know he will say "gangbangers"....

They'd grumble a bit...but then hand them over, content that Trump can always be trusted to do the right thing.

They would willingly give them up, you wouldn't even need a buyback program. "Well, I guess he knows what he's doing!"

It might finally wake up some of those who are skeptical already. Unfortunately, several media outlets would portray them as domestic terrorists. The Trump administration would refuse to provide evidence, and ignore any court orders ruling that they do so.

Fox News would call them “traitors”. At least some of them would have their personal information mysteriously leaked. Homes would be vandalized. Jobs would be lost.

There would be no consequences. Life would continue as “normal” for most of us.

Maybe if he came straight at it, his people would object. If he was going to do that, it probably would've been after the assassination attempt. So it feels highly unlikely. But he's got some options.

Option 1: "Folks, we need you to donate your guns to the police. They're so underfunded/under attack, they need as much help as they can get." And I bet a lot of people would do it. Now, would it be ALL the guns they own? Probably not. But they'd be giving them up voluntarily.

Option 2: He targets a specific group that conservatives hate, and claims he'll only take guns from them. "We're only going to take the guns from the ____________ (illegals/terrorists/minorities/atheists/jews/liberals), not you good folks." The cops proceed to confiscate (steal) them from anyone they happen across, including people who voted for Trump.

If we're talking MAGA response here, I it would depend the skin color of the people whose guns are being taken. To racist MAGA folk, they'd cheer on gun seizures of people of color.

"the gun loving liberals clinging to their second amendment is what ruined this country in the first place! that's why you see so much gun violence with the inner city gangs"

Didn’t he do that first term? Vaguely recall a minor vocal day or two about it.

[–] Coreidan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

No he definitely did not take away everyone’s guns in his first term.
