For owls that are superb.

If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

Funny thing about my first play through, I logically thought to myself "I can abandon this poor cub out here...I'll just kill it".

It never entered my mind to try and tame it.

Not sure what that says about me now that I've said that out loud...

As a Canadian gen-x I can only hear chariots of fire when seeing this.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

I can only imagine the owl making airplane noises.

[–] spykee@lemm.ee 7 points 15 hours ago

Absolutely. That's why they spend their early years in huge barns.

That pic is iconic enough that you find it as a regular meme template (uncredited of course). Good to see the original photographer mentioned!

A barn for owls is an owl barn.

Is a barn for Barn Owls a Barn Owl barn or a Barn Owl owl barn?

Is a Barn Owl living in such a barn a Barn Owl barn Barn Owl or a Barn Owl owl barn Barn Owl?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 8 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Don't they need to build strength in their wings?

[–] Khanzarate@lemmy.world 7 points 22 hours ago

They're gonna flap around too but nah this is leg day. Flying starts with a big jump. Especially when the wings are also new, you want as much height as you can when you start.
