I think I get maybe half of those, but can someone explain why Ohio is on the list?
It just means “the shittiest location you can imagine”. Sometimes the most honest words come out of the mouths of children.
Considered a weird place where weird things come. Ex: "MrBeast from Ohio" for the MrBeast imitation video / rap battle… that’s a bit outdated by now though
There was a shirt, it was Mario + Mushroom = Big Mario. Our administration thought this was a drug reference. Some nerdy kid would wear the shirt and about half way through the day they would be wearing it inside out.
Literally a 40 year old reference, seniors still in working age was in their 20s when this game was released
As an elder gen Z I can assure you that the list of banned things in my class circa 2015 was somehow worse. Just off the top of my head.

They changed the state anthem of Mississippi a couple of years ago from Go Mississippi to One Mississippi. It's no longer contextually hilarious and not nearly as hoki. I guess Mississippi decided they were not on the right track and probably were never going to get to the top.
Shame the old one is pretty unique, frankly if anyone needs an update it's us Californians. But we are also a somewhat lazy bunch and would probably just make California Dreamin the new anthem. Either that or the committee would let their insanity take hold and ya would end up with something reminiscing a Latin war cant.
This is wildly unrelated but it's the polka that plays in my head when someone mentions polka which also happens to be mildly problematic though hilarious.
I'm stuck with Pennsylvania Polka because of Groundhog Day.
And now everyone who's watched it is stuck with it too.
This is basically a shit post song, I guess people are still somewhat the same.
Also my association for polka is Polka never dies by The Dreadnaughts.

Story time! When I was in high school (~1998/99) a group of kids decided to start a “gang.” I went to a small Baptist school. Kids were bored. This was maybe second period. They called their gang the “Yo’s.” Saying “Yo” was pretty much the extent of their gang. By lunchtime a group of us got annoyed and decided to start a rival gang called the “No’s.” The Bloods to the Yo’s Crips. The sign you were a No was you grabbed a brown paper towel from the bathroom and wore it hanging from your back pocket.
Anyway, just before dismissal everyone was called into an assembly and given a lecture on gangs and told that anyone wearing a brown paper towel would receive a detention. I am still amused at how seriously our administration took this obviously stupid and juvenile joke.
Wait until you learn how seriously law enforcement took street gangs.

I get like 3 or 4 of those. Some of them I've heard out of context so I have no clue what they mean.
I'm 39.
I'm 10+ years younger and I know maybe two thirds of them.
Getting old is fuckin bullshit
