Ok, but this is actually just sensible marketing. Must not skuff a new product. That's just common sense.

[–] Altrex@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Look the cybertrunk is a dumb vehicle. But, isn't this how trucks and other off-road targeted vehicles are displayed?

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 8 points 2 days ago

If it's new they shouldn't drive over rocks on the tires. If it was used and on used tires, driving it up on rocks would make a lot more sense. I off road my Subaru and I've off roaded with a kia, most vehicles can do more than you think if you know how to drive them.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yes, but at the same time a lot of other trucks and "off-road" vehicles like the vast majority of SUVs aren't actually designed to be used off-road, either.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

Those stones are put there for potential customers to test how resistent the glass is.

[–] Mclemons@programming.dev 115 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They have the yellow ramp blocks to get it up the curb too! So embarrassing

[–] Bubs@lemm.ee 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Wouldn't that be the same for any show car? Like, you don't want to scuff up the new tires by unnecessarily taking the car over a curb.

Granted, they should have put them away for the show, but they clearly don't have much brain power to show.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (3 children)

You think they do that with a jeep, or some other actual off-road vehicle? Maybe they would, but I think the curb would take out that nazi car. That’s the difference.

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yes, they do that to new jeeps or other actual offroad vehicles.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It might not take it out but at 6900lbs it’s probably really hard on the sidewalls.

Jeep JKs weight less than half of that.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I was behind a cyber truck the other day when it went over train tracks. I thought it was going to fall apart.

[–] Bubs@lemm.ee 9 points 3 days ago (3 children)

For a showroom vehicle where you want everything on the vehicle to be as spotless and unblemished as possible, yeah, I would imagine some places would.

Sure, not everywhere is gonna do it, but I would guess that they had a time or two where a car slipped on the curb and scuffed up the tire. It's one more thing to potentially turn off a customer. Plus, they maybe can't sell the car until they replace the damaged tires (just my guess).

Unfortunately the Americans will never be able to experience the best offroad vehicle.

Yeah but does it smell like steak and seat 35?

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

12 yards long, 2 lanes wide!

Top of the line in utility sports, Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

How much does it weigh when the driver gets out?

[–] ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 days ago

Someone in my town imported one of these and I'm SO jelly. I've been looking for a trail toy but I'm probably gonna end up with an ancient samurai or smth

If anyone is interested, here is a video of a jimny beating a Jeep wrangler on a steep hill incline.

You are now banned from Reddit for being mean to Elon

[–] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 49 points 3 days ago (8 children)

Why anyone would buy this low poly monstrosity is beyond me. I bet this was the first time Elon designed something.

I subscribe to the theory that tech bros are deeply insecure about their masculinity because they have basically no genuine manliness in their lives, and the Cybertruck is something they're familiar with (gimmicky tech bullshit) that tricks them into thinking they are doing manly things (hauling building supplies in a pickup truck).

It seems to be some kind of instinct, wanting to be edgelord-y while growing up (asia knows that as chuunybyou). And while some never grow up mentally, some others never overcome the edgelord-y.

Fuckin' couches, killin' Popes. That's the JD way.

[–] KayLeadfoot@fedia.io 12 points 3 days ago (5 children)

I hear he fucked the Pontiff's couch after poisoning him.

IDK, they fired all the fact checkers and the blue checks don't mean anything anymore, so I guess it might be true?

[–] PentastarM@midwest.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did the pope's couch even say thank you??

The Camino is also an incel Camino

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Blind date, and you're obligated to pick up your date with either a decked out El Camino, or a decked out Cybertruck.

Good choice, and it wasn't even close, huh?

Hey don't be mean to the El Camino, it didn't deserve that :(

I wish we still made utes here in the states, sedan in the front, business in the back. Last one we got was the Chevy SSR I think? Ugly thing

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Musk = POS Nazi.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 42 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

An IncEl Camino will get stuck on snowy roads that a Ford Fiesta just flies over.

EDIT: I am sorry. I am being unfair. The IncEl Camino will get stuck on most road conditions that a Fiesta would fly over, not just snow.

My favourite title for this vehicle is ...

The Deplorean

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 13 points 3 days ago

I like it but I think I will use that for the Model S.

Keep the cover on or it will rust in the next rain.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Holy shit! Look at the off-roading that beast can do. A pile of rocks….fuck me.

I've done more off-roading in my IKCO sedan (Iranian car manufacturer)

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've done more off-roading on a mountain bike
