Where we meme (joking in tone and detail, serious in sentiment) about General Sherman, the Civil War, and how the secesh traitors had it coming.

RULES

  1. No bigotry. The Union, or at least the part of the Union WE support, fought AGAINST that shite. We are anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, anti-transphobic, and in general anti-bigot here, even if not all the lads in Union blue uniforms were.

  2. No Confederate sympathizing. Anti-democratic racist slaver traitors don't deserve shit.

  3. Follow all Lemmy.world rules

Don't play into their "Party of Lincoln" shit. They constantly fly and defend the flag of his enemies. It's just virtue signaling banking on people's ignorance of history.

I think it's fine to do like this meme to show how low they've fallen. Obviously they really aren't the same party in anything but name, but they could be.

party that incessantly whines about "cancel culture" continues to cancel things for dumber and dumber reasons

Yep. GOP are the most snowflakes I've ever seen. Also remember the Budweiser rebranding? Who thought the tiniest colour change would upset the manliest manly men?

It's always projection.

Oh no, not the selfish and entitled customers! Those were the best tippers!

Are we taking into account the period of time between 1872 and 1936 when the Republicans and Democrats did a big flippy floppy? Wibbly-wobbly even. Maybe some timey-whimey stuff to boot.

Fuck yeah. Vegetarian breakfast.

Semi relevant video on cracker barrel trying to rebrand it self under new leadership: https://youtu.be/qTliS-Givk4

I think their gripes are probably about more than the sausage. Having never once stepped foot in a Cracker Barrel, I assume this is part of wider backlash at trying to follow industry trends.

I have a Cracker Barrel near me that I go to with my mother every now and again. It's the same as it was when I first went there in the early 2000s.

I think their gripes are probably about more than the sausage.

Maybe in other scnearios, but in this case? No, I remember this controversy. It was the usual "LETTUCE IS FOR RABBITS" style crowd of lunatics. The kind of people who buy massive pickup trucks and never actually use the bed.

This tracks, it's something that doesn't impact them and they could easily ignore. So of course they are outraged.

Grand Old Party as a term wasn't used until the 1870s, according to wikipedia. GOP wasn't used until the 1880s.
