Outer Wilds - what an experience!

Outer wilds.

Final Fantasy 8. I love that game and die on that hill.

[–] mysticpickle@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Think I spent more time on triple triad than in the game around it.

[–] hondaguy97386@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

That is the best card game!

Mass Effect Trilogy.

Borderlands. 1 and 2. If I can count that as one.

Metal Gear Solid and TLOZ Ocarina of Time. I have always been really into video games but before those two it was all fighting games and platformers for me. After those two games I understood that video games are just as much an art form as movies and music. Funny how they both came out within weeks of each other.

The Witness. It's one of my favorite games but barely replayable when you know!

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

I'm playing it right now. I finally got into the mountain

There is shogi if you want that new chess rush again

[–] ZDL@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I've given it a try, but it's too fiddly for my tastes. Too much to keep track of. (I mean I suck at Chinese Chess already; I just enjoy it anyway.)

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

I recommend lishogi.org, change the peice set to dobutsu shogi, and play minishogi game. It's great. Easy to pick up, even the fiddly bits

See how each piece has all the moves indicated on it? The boars is small so it's not overwhelming

Bloodborne.

First time through that game took e seven years.

Oh WOW what a great question!

In my case there are many games.

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6,7,8,9; Zelda Link to the past, Stalker shadow of Chernobyl.

Some games truly are an experience to play. But more than anything else I want the feeling of childish carelessness I had while playing these games.

Inscryption. I thought it was just another roguelike deckbuilder. I was wrong. It is an experience dressed up like one.

Kingdom come: deliverance, outer worlds, or outer wilds.

[–] DNU@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think i could replay outer worlds every other year without even forgetting. Nice length, story. Combat is okay but the chars are what matter.

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

Lucky lol. What a great game, i wish i could replay it freshly again.

Vagrant Story (PS1)

Yes, it's a huge pain in the ass to jump in blind, even to play with guides and walkthroughs on hand. But that's exactly why!

I want to play it again for the first time. Preferably, with no knowledge of its game mechanics. Discovering its game mechanics should be either a very frustrating experience (which is my actual first-time experience with it) or a very rewarding experience depending on whether or not I actually manage to crack the code.

My actual first time with the game got ruined by the frustration, and failing that, getting the gameshark cheat codes. I still needed to get a walkthrough because there's only so much an infinite HP cheat can do in that game.

Cyberpunk. No mans sky. Skyrim. Avowed. GTA5

[–] Unlocalhost@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

GTA 1, "GOURANGA!!"

[–] BULAJI@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Black Myth: Wukong

Life is Strange. One of the first games that got a tear out of me.

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Runescape, but like 2006 era

[–] Zentron@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Age of Mythology , its such a good game

[–] theblips@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Undertale, but I want to go back to those times where I didn't know anything about it, not now that it's been memed to death. Playing it for the first time was such an experience back then.
Also, a boardgame: Settlers of Catan. Now I loathe the game, but back when I was being introduced to this hobby it was so good

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Half Life 2 but with one of the swanky texture packs that exist now. The game blew my mind at release.

The board game?
