Facing possible jail in Texas isn't exactly a price being paid, is it?

Compromising PII is a hipaa violation, that isn’t taken lightly anywhere. He may not get the full 10 years but he will be slapped for this.

Will he loose his licence for this? Because he should. Anyone leaking patient data on purpose should never have access again.

A felony conviction will result in him being unable to practice for sure.

Iirc, his license to practice is the decision of the medical board, not the courts.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think if the courts find him guilty, the courts decide the fine and jail time. But if the medical board finds HIPPA violations, they decide what happens to his medical license.

He can potentially beat the court charges because many courts have been stacked to be hard-line/alt right wing from Trump's appointment of judges. But that's different from the board.

What I mean is even if he was facing the death penalty or 1 billion years in prison, he hasn't paid, has he. The penalty has been added to cart.

Tangent: I have no faith in the American justice system, much less in any red state's "justice" system. He'll get slapped...on the wrist...using some mental gymnastics about whistleblowers or something like that.

I dunno, man. Texas is a human rights violator through their prison system. I imagine it won't be a picnic.

Yes, they grow their own food and make their own clothes, so after a day of hand picking cotton, you get to rest in your cell with no A/C.

Not all of them are self suffcient in this way, but it is not easy time at all.
