taking their phones, laptops, and life savings – even though they were not the suspects the agents were looking for.

As for Marissa’s phones, electronics, and cash, they have no idea which agency has those belongings or how to get those items back.

It's really worth to read the whole article to realize the extent of how fucked this is.
