Apple has a very limited list of search engines that it allows.

There are a couple of extensions that do reddirect, but that doesn't even prevent the request from going to the Search Engine defined in settings.

Alternatively, I can try a different browser, but they are objectively worse, and none of them can use extensions.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one stressed with this or has everyone found a alternative that I don't know.

This looks like proper monopolistic behaviour btw

As said I migrated to use their ios browser: https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/qwant-private-search/id924470452?l=en-GB

if you want to stick to safari there seems to be also this https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/qwant-for-safari/id1645050159?l=en-GB but i havenโ€™t tried that myself

i suggest you give it a try to the browser, iโ€™m quite happy with it

Oh I'm so sorry. I missed the part where you mentioned the browser. I'll take a look. Thank you

You can also try the Orion browser and get ad blocking and addon support, though I think Kagi is an American company.
