Nice to have my prejudices about r/Europe confirmed once again. Not sure if we want the average user from there over here.
The thing they said is prob racist af and against a group of ppl not the person doing the act, yet they lack the critical thinking skills to distinguish that from what they think they're doing
Yeah, they are not really making a good point with that one
It's not the average one we're hunting
One point that is fair is that Lemmy has a high number of tankie scum.
And their accounts are not always hosted on lemmygrad/hexbear/ML.
This is a legitimate issue.
Do you have any examples of tankie discourse outside of grad/hexbear/ml communities?
Mostly in political/news subs. If you avoid politics/news it's much less noticeable.
It tends to be relatively subtle (albeit after seeing it several times you do notice a pattern). Statements implying Chinese interactions with foreign countries are purely "for a better world". Low key, roundabout methods of supporting russian imperialism ("well it's actually NATO that's at fault"). That sort of thing.
FWIW, when/if the threadiverse gets more users (say at least 250K+ MAUs stable), this sort of stuff will be diluted to be less noticeable.
The issue is worse on Reddit. You can block people here. It’s fast and it works.
