Ummmm....I hate to the be the bearer of bad news, but your democracy was born from violence. It's quite literally the defining characteristic of your founding as a nation.

And I'm not suggesting that there is anything wrong with that. In fact I think the whole "violence has no place" schtick is naive to the core and no real change in history has ever occurred without violence.

The French Revolution was just a bunch of scrubs walking around until someone finally pulled out the guillotine. Hitler was just being "appeased" until he finally crossed a line in Poland. Napoleon laughed off diplomacy until the entire european world said "enough is enough".

non-violence just delays the inevitable. I'm sorry if that's an unpopular opinion, but it's been proven true again and again and again.
