Actual definitions (my opinion):

  • HTML is website
  • CSS is style
  • JS is everywhere
  • SQL is data
  • Python is simple
  • PHP is backend
  • Markdown is README
  • YAML is config

PHP is old

Same age as Ruby, Java and JavaScript, but younger than Python, C, and C++. 😛
