the average american has essentially zero regard for the well-being of non-human animals, this is not surprising in the least.

They aren’t so good about the well-being of their fellow humans, either. Think of all the things other civilized countries have that we don’t because people don’t want to pay for anything that doesn’t benefit themselves and only themselves.

How does it matter whether it's dogs or cows? Factory farming any animal is a great wrong we should leave behind us as quickly as we can.
