As someone largely opposed to the idea of a celebrity, I still agree and have for awhile.
He knows how the sausage gets made. He knows and disdains the rot, and he has the rarest of things for a democrat: a magnetic personality.
I've wanted President Jon Stewart since I saw how he advocated for 9/11 victims benefits to an indifferent Congress and won.
As a non-Democrat, I'd probably vote for him. I'd probably actually watch the State of the Union addresses as well. :)
I'm vehemently anti celebrity politicians in general, but Jon Stewart is not just some random actor or other celebrity. He's smart, educated, and well-informed. He knows politics. He knows how our government works. He's put his money where his mouth is for many years in terms of political activism, and he's been successful at it. He also seems to be genuinely a good person who cares about his country and his fellow Americans.
I would not only vote for him but campaign for him. Of course, I'm not a Democrat; I'm an independent.
