Yep, and @nieminen@lemmy.world if they're hollow, they're living out their adult lives elsewhere (likely in the building). These are just signs that they used it as a pupation site.

Thank you. I've seen no evidence of them, and they were below some baseboards put in long ago. I'm hoping it's an issue that no longer exists ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cool entomological fact: Cockroaches and termites (and also praying mantises) are really closely related, and many cockroaches have the ability to digest lignin, aka wood, just like termites

Floorboards also tend to have gaps so all kinds of insects can hide underneath.
