"Linux? looks like Chinese to me" (I guess it's not even Chinese)

[–] NorthWestWind@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

It says

"Linux
Operating System (操作系統)
Core (kernel?) Analysis" (內核分析)

On the side, top down, (also I'm typing trad because I can't write simplified).
"Computer textbook" (計算機教本).
"Beginner" (入門).
"Increase" (提高).
"Master (verb)" (精通)

“Beginner” (入門).

is this "gate person"?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

No, enter gate

Edit: My bad, I didn't notice the character correctly

Chinese is full of beautiful compound words like this. "You're welcome" for example (bukeqi, 不客气) is "not guest air". Happy (gaoxing, 高兴) is "high mood", or cheerful (kaixin, 开心) is "open heart".

No.

Person is 人. This character is 入, it means "going inside". The difference is which stroke is on the top, the left or the right.

roughly translates to Linux operating system's core analysis

Google translate says, it's (simplified) Chinese.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

Good thing they fucking simplified it because I still can’t read it.
