DOOM Eternal was like a ... crazy adrenaline pumping high for me that I normally don't get out of single player games, so that's why it's arguably my favorite.
I never really played the original DOOM games (they're almost too simple for me ... I didn't grow up with them but I did get into PC shooters with Xonotic -- a fast paced Quake derivative, so DOOM Eternal kinda makes sense for me).
I need to try out Xonotic. I went to high school with the guy who started the original game, who runs Alientrap now.
Oh wow, that's quite the backstory!
Yup, I was friends with his older brother. Both of them were/are a bit weird, didn't think much of either of them academically until grade 12. Then their math & and computer genious came out. Had a few university classes with them, the older brother has better social skills, but Lee is more creative IMHO.
Upshot is I played Capsized in 2009, so that was neat.
