Eh, they probably want to ignore the war, feel nostalgic about the space race and glory days of cosmonauts. In regards to firsts in space, I think the Soviets did outscore the US, although they then managed the finishing blow of landing a man on the moon.
But yeah no, interesting times we live in. (Yes, in the bad way.)
Yeah, the Soviets won multiple sprints, but lost the marathon.
