A day before, Trump staged a rally in the mid-Atlantic state of North Carolina, ostensibly to talk about his economic plans. But then he questioned whether it even was the most important issue in the November election. “I’m not sure it is,” he said at one point. “Crime is right there. I think the border is right there.”

I hate to defend Cheeto Charles Manson (I really fucking do), but why would he talk to his base about economic plans? Numbers hurt their brain. All they want to hear is the lie that if he wins they will be better off and the dems will be mad.

He also again veered into personal attacks on Harris, saying she has "the laugh of a crazy person."

And there you go. That's more like it. That's why they showed up and all they really want to hear.

You are correct, he didn't want to talk about economic plans but his advisors are begging him to give them something to try and change the narrative because he is sinking bigly. The crowd there was maybe 2k tops but they (the professionals running his campaign) need sound bites and clips of him looking if not Presidential, at least coherent for the nightly news. But of course Trump can't stay on message so he keeps slipping further in the polls and will be blaming everyone around him and attacks those trying to help him get back to the White House.

You love to see it.

100%, but that's on his team for not knowing who and what he is. The dude has the IQ of a turnip seed but he is a salesman, a con artists, and a bit of standup comedian. He will only focus on "the room". He'll read the room and adjust accordingly. If he's dying on stage, he's going to switch to a bit he thinks might work. If the crowd responds, he'll lean harder in that direction. He can't help himself. If they want sound clips, maybe don't put him in front of a crowd that responds to "Kamabla is a hoe that laughs strange...am I right?".

A turnip seed knows at least how to grow.
