I am new to lemmy and can't seem to figure it out yet. I made my first post in gonewild and it suddenly disappeared. Viewing the gonewild community I noticed that I only see some older posts, even if I sort by new. When I log into another account I can view more posts and even the one I posted. Can anyone help me out with this?

What instance is your other account in?

Some servers don't allow nsfw, it could be the case of lemy.world But others do, lemynsfw.com

My account is on lemmynsfw. I just figured out that I when I change the language I see different posts in the same community. Is it supposed to be like that? As in my case: I made one post while my profile was set to english and another post while it was set to german. And now I can only view the post that matches my profiles language. I think thats an annoying feature, if it's supposed to be one. So basically you have no way of viewing all posts on a community just from one language?

You can select multiple languages by holding down Ctrl (Strg on German keyboards) while clicking.

Personally I've selected all languages because some people set them incorrectly and they mostly depend on the community anyways. And if I do get a post I don't understand I can just scroll past.

Oh thank you very much! That is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't know selecting multiple languages is an option!

As well as your chosen languages, select Undetermined too. Some Lemmy clients don't automatically select your language when you post or reply, so if the user doesn't notice, their reply is classed as undetermined rather than their language.

Choosing Undetermined as a language option lets you see those posts and replies ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks, got it. Just selected everything to be sure.

A lot of posts are not tagged as a language, so if you picked a specific one in the settings and deselected "undetermined" you won't see the majority of posts.

I think if it's set to Undetermined that means you get everything. But I don't know for sure.

Edit: btw, welcome to Lemmy!

Just tried that, when it's set to undetermined it really doesn't show a lot of posts. So basically it really only shows the posts from the language my profile is set to. I guess english is the best choice then... Still think this is a very strange funcionality

It really isn't useful if you're viewing images, obviously, but it has has some benefit in other realms. It's a good idea for an international market, but it will take time for everyone to buy into it and get used to it.

You should be able to set what language posts you want to see in your profile.
