You can select multiple languages by holding down Ctrl (Strg on German keyboards) while clicking.
Personally I've selected all languages because some people set them incorrectly and they mostly depend on the community anyways. And if I do get a post I don't understand I can just scroll past.
Oh thank you very much! That is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't know selecting multiple languages is an option!
As well as your chosen languages, select Undetermined too. Some Lemmy clients don't automatically select your language when you post or reply, so if the user doesn't notice, their reply is classed as undetermined rather than their language.
Choosing Undetermined as a language option lets you see those posts and replies ๐
