Nintendo has expanded its retro library on the Nintendo Switch by adding three classic Sega Mega Drive/ Genesis games to the service: Mercs, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Vectorman.

• Mercs (Wolf of the Battlefield: Mercs): A fast-paced arcade action shooter where players take on the role of a U.S. mercenary unit rescuing a kidnapped former president, featuring multiple modes and a variety of weapons.
• ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron: A side-scrolling adventure with quirky humor and colourful levels, returning the iconic duo to their home planet while combating Earthlings.
• Vectorman: Set in a dystopian future where players control Vectorman, stopping a rogue leader. Known for its fluid animations and high-speed action, this is one of the most visually impressive games on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

These additions are now available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers through the SEGA Genesis app on their consoles.

Thai police found and confiscated 1,117 of the live and dead animals in the southern province of Chumphon in May -- the kingdom's largest ever seizure, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Thailand is a major transit hub for wildlife smugglers, who often sell highly-prized endangered creatures on the lucrative black market in China, Vietnam and Taiwan.

The repatriation of the 963 animals -- ring-tailed lemurs, brown lemurs, spider tortoises and radiated tortoises -- is a "significant step" in anti-trafficking operations, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Chalermchai Sri-on said Wednesday.

Lemurs, which starred as loveable supporting characters in the Dreamworks "Madagascar" movies, are found only on the Indian Ocean island, and experts say they are threatened by trafficking into the pet trade. The furry primates and the tortoises will be sent to special centres once they return to Madagascar, said its environment minister Max Andonirina Fontaine who was in Thailand to oversee the repatriation.

The four species, which are endemic to Madagascar, are listed as near-extinct or threatened by the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Thailand is Southeast Asia's biggest legal importer and exporter of CITES-listed wildlife from Madagascar, according to a report from TRAFFIC, a wildlife NGO. But according to the 2023 report, illegal trafficking persists and "the true extent is likely to be greater than those reflected by seizure records alone," it says.

The actions are part of China’s attempts to undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty, Taiwan's National Security Bureau said.

Voici pour une fois, une description en profondeur d'un manga récemment converti en animé, en début 2024. Il est d'ailleurs aujourd'hui numéro 1 des animés sur "My Anime List", avec le score assez exceptionnel de 9.32/10 au moment où je regarde.

Selon google, l'animé est trouvable sur Crunchyroll et Netflix en ce moment si vous voulez le voir; et les manga sont toujours en vente en boutique (j'en ai quelques tommes à la maison).

Je vous présente aujourd'hui Sousou no Frieren, en Anglais: "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End", ou pour faire plus court: simplement "Frieren".

On suit le voyage de Frieren, une Elfette aux cheveux blancs, flemmarde, mais à la longévité infinie. Celle-ci passe sa vie à se balader de villages en villages, pour collectionner des grimoires et sortilèges en tout genre, tout en aidant les gens à faire tout genre de services dont ils auraient besoin pour se faire un peu d'argent et de nourriture.

Frieren avait rejoint un petit groupe d'aventuriers, pour aller mettre un terme au règne du roi démon. Le voyage aura duré 10 petites années, et s'est terminé sur un succès; faisant entrer le groupe de héros dans les légendes.

Quelques années se sont écoulées, et les héros humains ne sont plus tout jeunes. Ils ont pris leurs retraites paisibles, sauf pour Frieren, qui étant une elfe, ne subit pas l'effet du temps. D'ailleurs, elle en a même un peu du mal à en réaliser les effets et la longueur: Ces 80 années se sont écoulées pour elle comme en un clignement d’œils.

Durant les pages de ce manga et les épisodes de cet animé, nous suivrons cette elfette pendant une courte trentaine d'années, pendant lesquelles Frieren commencera à réaliser ce que l'écoulement du temps est pour les humains, et retrospectivera sur ses aventures passées en la comparant à son nouveau voyage et à ses nouveaux compagnons de route...

Mon avis:
Mis à part quelques combats (et plutôt jolis d'ailleurs), ce manga (et l'animé aussi) est très posé et reposant.

Cela fait toujours un peu bizarre quand on regarde cette petite case qui indique le temps qui passe, presque une année par chapitre, alors que, comme Frieren, on ne s'est pas du tout rendu compte qu'autant de temps venait de s'écouler.

L'histoire est prenante, et les questions sur le passé, le futur, et le temps qui coule font vraiment réfléchir et penser à soi.

Les dessins sont sympa (pas les meilleures, mais pas mauvaises non plus). Les musiques de l'animé sont géniales et nous plongent bien dans cette ambiance intemporelle

J'ai passé un super moment, je trouve que cette note générale de 9.3/10 lui est entièrement méritée !
