well, what happened is that Greece was forced into a state of austerity that didnt help absolve them of debt and ultimately caused more damage than good. Especially for the working population.

Thats kinda important, regarding Germanys role in "helping" the country.

okay, but regarding productivity: do you really buy that idea?

Because to me that would imply that greek workers are just less productive than german workers, which is why they have to work so hard.

There are a lot of other factors at play

I'm German for context. I was born into a country that was already pretty well-off economically speaking, long before I could participate. I got a great education for free. I dont work less because I'm more productive or efficient. I work less, because our country can afford better labor laws and there is a social net that catches family members who are struggling and/or have bad health. I got work at all because the german economy performs comparably well and our politicians and rich people didnt screw up this bad. At least not when our own country is concerned. Dont want to make a statement about foreign policy.

i really want to be left alone in parks. i go there to chill, not to have some awkward dude sit down next to me and try to strike up a conversation with an obvious ulterior motive.

Just to point out how subjective the whole time-and-place thing is. Not saying someone with a lot of tact couldnt pull it off. But thats not the target demography of a post like this.

Getting to know someone through shared interests/common activities is definitely the safer route, not just for the guys.

you repurpose old fabric. same as with rags. as for what they'd do with it: likely wash and reuse them. same as with cloth diapers nowadays.

the alternatives would be leaves from certain plants or water and a hand.

Where you intend to stay is part of the questioning when you enter and they can get quite suspicious if you don't have a plan. Source: An Austrian, white friend of mine who went to the US. He also just wanted to travel around but was warned in advance (by other, mostly white europeans) that he shouldn't state that when asked. It's just not worth the risk.

While that's not the same as having to show hotel bookings for the whole stay, it is a thing travelers have had to worry about for quite some time now. I'm sure it's worse and more complicated for anyone of color.

Isn't that a Jehovah's witnesses thing or something?

This, anyone with strong glasses would be disabled in the stone age, lol. Needed some surgery before? You'd be dead. Ever broke a bone? Likely dead.

I went through my whole (living) family tree once and I'm pretty sure none of us would have survived, including me.

If you ever think you can fly: start from the ground.

Good advice for children and drunk people.

Not true everywhere, actually never heard of it here (Germany and Austria).

But if you walk into a place and ask for a paper cup of tap water, a lot of workers are willing to give it to you, regardless of the laws.

Vienna has tap water straight from the mountains btw and it tastes amazing. Recommended.

I'm not from the US. Which words did y'all borrow?

Might sound silly, but every once in a while, random guys around me (pretty short, female) start humming/making random noises when they get near me, usually when I'm alone. Imagine me standing at a red traffic light at night or something. It's never women. Sometimes, it's some creep trying to get my attention, though that's usually kinda obvious.

But I also had it happen with guys who didn't seem like they wanted anything. I lowkey suspect that some might make noises so that I'm not caught off guard or something?

Any men on here who do this? Or am I just tripping?

Edit to summarize: So, a few guys apparently do it on purpose, while others think they might do it subconsciously. Some do it around women, others around whomever, since anyone can get scared. Super interesting.

Also, when I spoke of creeps, I meant actual assholes who did and said shitty stuff, not random socially awkward people. You know the drill.
