The weight of the flip does not cause the phone to jostle out of my grip but also fully opens it.

Free Dice Roller (git.starlord.zip)

I have created a free tool for players to roll dice, saving the history of all rolls, and requiring no login: simply pass a unique URL back and forth between players as rolls are made.

You can start with the empty page here, or take a look at the code to make it yourself (it's simple HTML with a tiny bit of JavaScript).

Chicken?

Is there a way to specify where photos are saved? I don't see an option in the settings menu and it seems to be defaulted to (Android) Internal/Pictures/

I'm old, Gandalf. I know I don't look it, but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart.

In a heartbeat

Inspired by this post about Jack Black being Dionysus, my train of thought barreled down a list of ideas for role replacements that I call my "I'd totally watch that" list of actor swaps. I submit to you the following growing list:

  • Tyrion - Jack Black
  • Jon Snow - Keanu Reeves
  • Varris - John Malkovich
  • Littlefinger - Clark Gregg
  • Danaeris - Margot Robbie
  • Tywin - Ron Perlman
  • The Hound - Dave Bautista
  • Cersei - Lucy Lawless
  • Jamie - Chris Hemsworth
  • Jorah - Daniel Day-Lewis
  • Tormund - Andy Serkis
  • The Mountain - Josh Brolin
  • Bron - Ryan Reynolds
  • Bran - Tom Holland
  • Hodor - Vin Diesel

I believe in an open internet, FOSS, privacy by default, etc. I migrated away from Google by self-hosting Nextcloud. I prefer messaging apps like Molly, SimpleX, Threema, Matrix, etc. over standard SMS. I love the Fediverse (Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.).

But everyone I live with and everyone I know simply refuses to take part. I can't interact with them socially because they're all on Facebook. I can't communicate with them because they all use group texts for SMS/RCS. I feel like I'm living in a different part of the world and am completely disconnected from everything that's going on around me (with the people I want to interact).

My question is: does anyone else experience this, and how do you reconcile it? I want to share photos and clever posts with my family but they aren't on the Fediverse. I want to communicate securely with them but they only want to SMS. I want to share documents but they only use Google Docs.

There are people I've met on the Fediverse and through some secure messaging apps with whom I've struck up a rapport, but these are still (predominately) strangers, and I'd really like to involve the people I care about in these exciting new times. They just wont participate.

I feel like I've invited everyone in my family to go on a great, grand vacation away and I'm the only one who's packed.

Hello! I'm looking for help in finding ways to stay up to date with News "of the World" in the modern age. Having de-Googled (and, therefore, abandoned Google News), I find it hard to track what is going on outside of links posted to Lemmy/Mastodon (my only social media), and have no subscriptions to any streaming channels and no cable TV. I'm hoping someone can help me find a way to subscribe/watch enough news that I can stay properly informed. (For context, I am living in the US but believe I should be aware of activities in the rest of the World as we all undoubtedly impact each other.)

My goals are:

  1. "Watch" topics in particular (ex: Tech, Science, Politics, LGBTQ+ rights, etc.).
  2. Discover new items of interest based on my current interests.
  3. Reputable sources that at least attempt to be unbiased (especially those that cite respectably, such as academic publications and the like).
  4. Prefer FOSS solutions.
  5. Multiple (even dissenting) opinions are enjoyable.

I am a learned man and value knowledge, open-mindedness, objective truth, and perspective. Any suggestions are eagerly encouraged. Thank you all.
