You just made me realise I'm a gamer, not a Fortniter. But I probably should've realised that based on my Steam "years of service* and disgustingly large catalogue.

I'm a proven guaranteed money pot, publishers! Make me something good and I give the moneys!

I dunno. I work a 35 hr week with 6 weeks paid vacation and 20 days paid personal leave each year... Oh, yeah, and it accumulates annually if I don't use any of it.

Oh, and 17%>of my income is paid into retirement in addition to my salary, not out of my salary.

It's a bit above the legal minimum, but it's still pretty normal here.

You must have a very exciting betting wallet. I usually just got for one thing rather than spray hedge bets.on all the things I can basrlessly assume. Also, you didn't cover race or politics in there.

Wait til you look at homicide by firearm and realise that the US is more dangerous that some countries in active war.

Haha, yeah, guns are totally legal here. I have a lot of friends with guns and even two friends that make a living off shooting. The difference between here and the US is that they're seen as tools that easily have deadly consequence if abused and therefore are regulated as such. Some gun owners in the US will be like, "Duh", but the laws in the US do not reflect the same sentiment. Everyone has a right to firearms, but the public servants have measures in place that first say, "Okay, but why?" I mean, I'd love a to have a lot of things on my property, but obviously that's no possible in the interests of public safety.

That QLD shooting can happen (and will), but not with the regularity of more torn countries. Certainly not ones like the USA which are sort of in a league of their own with a handful of other countries that at least have an excuse like drug cartels and rampant crinal warfare.

Oh, wait. There I go thinking I live in Australia and it's real again. Gawsh, I'm so conditioned.

Well apparently I'm actually in some sort of Truman Show dome.

Australia Doesn’t Exist

And y'all know about the so-called "gun laws" here and how swiftly and easily everything got changed. Seems too good to be true 🤔🤔🤔🤔

For the US, I think it would be so slow at catching up to more developed standards of gun control that it would be generational and not a matter of years. It's not so much the laws that are currently in place that's the issue, it's the lack of regulation that's created such an ingrained culture that's going to take a long time to evolve. So, technology like this would stil definitely be utilised in the future.

My thoughts, anyway.

And honestly, I didn't even realise there was another school shooting in the US. Internationally, I guess it just gets covered less and less because it's not really "news" anymore.

I always figure it's someone whose life has become so pathetic, they bitterly downvote every single comment to try feel some control. And as a result, they feel like the Phantom of the Socials. Alone, but the true master of the place.

"Everyone must wonder, 'Who keeps downvoting us?' It is I! The true Master of Lemmy and- No, mother!... Yes, mother!... I tried but nobody wants to talk to me!... I don't want to!... Yeah, she's cute!... I don't want you to do that!... Mother put the phone down!"

Where I'm from, it's called a showbag because it looks expensive but there's nothing inside. All the gear; no talent.
