Wow. I didn’t even know this was a thing.

Will it make it to the US? 221 mile range isn’t bad.

Speaking of Netflix blindfolded horror movies… Why hasn’t there been a sequel to “Bird Box”? Did Sandra Bullock want too much money?

By institutional investors I’m guessing you mean pension plans and mutual funds. Which means a lot of average working people who have invested for their retirement.

The problem is that if you don’t vaccinate the livestock, the virus spreads and mutates and ends up in humans (which is what happens now). It also means the herds are culled (mass killing of thousands of animals) resulting in meat shortages and prices going up.

I suppose if it’s a concern, you could always label the products as vaccinated or vax free and “let the market decide” as they say. Continue to kill off the unvaccinated herds when they are infected and hopefully vaccinate enough to prevent mutation and transmission.

I’m not aware of any water to spare anywhere.

How about vaccinating cattle and chickens first.

How much do you suppose the music rights and residuals cost for these properties that Disney already owns? Is it insignificant? Would switching to a streaming model similar to the music industry change things (you only get paid per view)?

If Microsoft is paying for it, why do they need a loan?

Will Microsoft also be paying for any nuclear waste disposal?

Burning wood to make electricity is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard of.

Unpopular opinion — This ended up being my favorite of the Stargate shows. I really wish Amazon/MGM would reboot it with a time jump. It’s bizarre that they own the rights to the franchise and haven’t done anything with it in years.

The Zaslavification continues.

Surprising. I didn’t think this one had much buzz. Also felt like a one season show.

So I had to pull up some huge rosemary plants in the front yard to have some plumbing work done. I noticed that the rosemary I’ve bought to replace it has completely different leaves. The old plant was more like an evergreen with oily needle-like leaves. The new plant has soft flat leaves but still smells like rosemary.

Are these two plants actually related? Are they both edible? The “evergreen” One was fairly hearty and grew quickly. Will the other variety act the same?

So I’ve got an old Mac I use as a Plex server and I’m considering installing Ubuntu on a DOS-formatted partition I’ve already set aside. What I’m wondering is:

  • Do I just need this one partition, or is it going to need an additional blank partition for VM/Swap?
  • can I install Ubuntu on an external drive and then clone or dd the external install onto the internal partition I’ve set aside?

So although Paramount is being purchased by Skydance media, it’s being bankrolled by Ellison of Oracle software fame. Why he wants to run an entertainment studio, I have no idea.

“It’s not like ‘ER.’ It’s not kind of ‘ER.’ It’s not sort of ‘ER.’ It is ‘ER’ with the exact same executive producer, writer, star, production companies, studio and network as the planned ‘ER’ reboot.”

Not that I should be surprised, but trying to watch it today and it’s just talk talk talk talk. Commercials. More talk. Overhead shots of the stadium. People walking around in the rain. Talking head. Cut away to footage of Carl Lewis bitching about something. Instant replay of something they already showed. People hugging. Stadium shot. Human interest story. Commercial. Shot of Eiffel Tower. Promo for actual sports being shown on Peacock. Etc etc.

Meanwhile you can see there’s sporting events going on because they are showing them on the Jumbotron in the stadium shots. Really no excuse for this since most of this coverage is pre-recorded anyway.
