Yes! Pretzel buns are the superior bun for holding a burger in your hands. Definitely needs moisture from the other ingredients though. Also they have great flavor. I’m personally not particularly fond of the overly sweet brioche buns.

Some of my kids’ friends at school have Apple Watches. (5th grade, plus we live in Apple town.) My kids also want one (ha no). We’ve explained that theirs wouldn’t be able to do anything because they wouldn’t be connected. They still want one — solely for the voice memo feature. That’s it. That’s what they want a $300 smartwatch for.

All I’m saying is, toy makers, there’s a market! Bring these things back!

I know exactly which toy dinosaur that was

I still have mine (need it occasionally for work, I’m tied to the work account) but I deleted the app from my phone several years ago and not having it there has really helped me not check it. I never check it. Every once in a while I’ll log in to do something for work, see that three parents from my kids’ school sent me a friend request, accept those, and then split. I’m not sure why I bother; guess I don’t want them to feel shunned but it’s not like they’ll reach me there.

My Model 3 is like this. (Please don’t judge, I’ve had it for six years.) Thankfully I don’t need to get into the glovebox very often but on the other hand that means I can never remember how to do it. It sucks balls.

Wouldn’t matter in NY anyway.

That is my fear, honestly. He is a great fruit eater and a pretty decent veggie eater, especially compared to his peers. My once-skinny husband never was and he has definitely put on weight in adulthood (although I’m also not one to talk, but at least I eat fruits and veggies; I just also have an insatiable sweet tooth). He eats some junk food but I worry less about that when, if given the option, he’d likely choose salmon sushi and strawberries over almost anything else that might be offered.

She is a bit worried. She did say it’s good that he’s not losing weight. But she is concerned that he’s not gaining at a rate that is on pace with his height.

Ah awesome, I will try Costco. I might buy a small amount of the Pediasure to try it first and make sure he doesn’t balk. Condensed milk is a great idea! Does it change the flavor or texture at all? He’s picky about the texture of his beloved Kraft.

My 10yo is quite skinny. My husband was also skinny as a kid so generally we haven’t worried about it much. But he just had his yearly checkup, and for the past two years he’s gained very little while still growing taller, and his BMI is dropping off the chart. The doc ordered a blood test and it came back fine, no celiac or thyroid issues (PHEW). So we’re back to trying to boost his intake.

He’s not a super picky kid but he can be reluctant to try things. He eats a lot of classic kid food with no problem: mac and cheese, pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, etc. He also tends to eat a ton of fruits and veggies, which I don’t want to discourage or course! I might try PB&J again but he doesn’t love it like he used to.

The doc did say that she tends to prefer that kids eat their calories instead of drink them, but if a protein drink works for him, it’s an option as long as it’s not displacing solid food. I picked up one by Orgain the other day and he doesn’t seem overly thrilled with it. I’d be curious to know if other people have tried other brands and what their kids thought of them.

Anyone deal with this? What worked for you?

Yeah I’m having a hard time feeling negative about Iran doing this when we know what Russia is up to. At least it levels the playing field a bit. Feels icky though!

Obligatory VOTE

This is frustrating because menstruation, while obviously playing a roll in having children, does not equal sex (which is, I assume, why their panties are in a bunch) and plenty of women and trans men who are abstaining from sex or childfree still get periods. We should not be having a moral panic about fucking tampons. Arrrrrrgggghhh

Same here. It’s a very painfully expensive purchase but now that we’ve had one, I’d pull that trigger again in a heartbeat if something happened to this one. I wish it was easier to deep clean but otherwise it is fantastic. We have three cats and empty the bin probably twice a week, still waaaay better than scooping. And the really prissy cat likes her clean litter.

Maybe this isn’t the right community to post in, so apologies if this seems odd. But I figure we sewists may have specific needs or thoughts when it comes to garment care so this is the first place I thought of to ask.

My washer is throwing error codes this morning and googling suggests it might be related to some computer panel or other, and I’m a bit worried that repairs are going to be so expensive that it might mean a new washer is in the cards. We’ll see.

Are there any features that you love in your washer, wish it had, or downright hate?

Also, back when we bought this thing, front loaders were all the rage. It seems like top loaders are back in fashion. Does anyone know the story there and/or why a top loader might be a better option?

I’m all ears for opinions about dryers too!

Thanks in advance, y’all.
