My hot take is that I don’t like cross posting or reposting. I subscribe to communities for the unique content and perspectives that each one provides and to see a user posting the same thing to five different communities for whatever reason (getting upvotes seems to be the only reason) seems silly to me. Let go of the ego a bit and this need for internet points.

The very clear point made here that should have shut all this noise down in the first place is that WPE is not obligated in any way to contribute back to Automattic (private biz) or the WordPress foundation (non profit). Complete shakedown by Matt that should be making all of us think very carefully about the future of the Wordpress platform as a whole. If one guy that runs a private business that also happens to be tied to a nonprofit that runs a widely used platform (yes, that does sound like a mess) decides that he’s not getting his way regarding your business that makes money off of the ecosystem (there are thousands), then he can throw a fit and shake them down too.

The platform isn’t perfect and has its warts, but it does fill a need that works for a lot of use cases. There’s a reason why so much of the web is using it. This drama has been making me give serious thought to completely abandoning the platform and recommending to everyone else that they do the same though.

Hilarious article, but man - don’t go on that site without all of your ad and popup blockers at full throttle.

You must work for Epic.

I work on the hospital side and the cost and human effort investment for these systems is ridiculous. No wonder were behind the rest of the developed world in healthcare.

This by far the worse crime here.

This was put together over a long period of time by my paragliding instructor and friend (former engineer for Canada’s space agency - still has a part he designed on the ISS on Canada’s robotic arm):

Loads of useful info and is updated fairly regularly.

Every time I click on a clickbait title and KNOW what’s coming (bullshit is what’s coming), and yet I do it anyway and get the expected result. Shame on me and that should teach me.

Shame. Only shame.

Twitter is a shining example of that.

I appreciate the precision AND pedantry of your response. Great, concise explanation of exactly what that term means.

Been enjoying these hike and fly videos in the UK by one of the FlyBubble gang. He’s done Scottish highlands and North Wales - very chill and well produced and good mix of hiking, nature, light alpinism, and PG with light gear.

Think this qualifies as the scariest speedflying video I've seen yet.

Zipper repair (www.youtube.com)

Great video on how to fix a bunch of zipper issues. Handy to have on hand for harness, rucksack, and concertina bag zipper problems. Implemented one of the fixes in the video (took less than a minute) and that fix is still going strong after a year.

Final results in for the red rocks wide open.

Looks like super lightweight, loads of pockets, and 70L total storage volume. Might be a good rival to the BV1.

Not a sailplane pilot, but thought this was pretty neat. Uses the airflow to push the wiper out to the end of the wing and then either a simple electric motor or a hand crank to bring it back towards the fuselage.

Have been fiddling with removing the brummels from my speed system and wanted a nice stopper knot for the larkshead to grab onto. Hope this benefits someone else.
