Canada is at risk of losing its elimination status for measles, which the country has maintained since 1998

Yikes

I don't like that I had to do a double-take for this one.

I was wondering if it was still going on since I hadn't seen anymore updates on the news until I just checked again now. He was arrested and the police will provide an update in the morning, according to CTV.

We even assist animals in a peaceful death when they're suffering, it should be no question for consenting humans.

I hope this pressure leads to just getting rid of algorithms altogether. It's like intentionally giving everyone their own personal echo chamber. How are people ever going to be open to different ideas if they're constantly being pigeonholed by their browsing behaviour? How will they ever have opportunities for practicing critical thinking if everything is spoonfed to them? How many real human beings have we unintentionally ignored online because an algorithm decided they weren't interesting enough to us? These are all things that have the potential to prevent a tragedy. Humans are capable of being more than the sum of their clicks if we let them.

The world is bigger than our own interests and I think it deserves even just a crumb of our attention too. Then maybe the world can become a little less devastating.

For now, Boudreau said the American entrance will still be available to members with a library card, as well as staff.

I don't think this is what Arthur meant when he said, "Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card."

We go to movies pretty regularly, often on opening nights (Thursdays) and they've been packed ever since restrictions were lifted.

I gotta hand it to them, they are very good at marketing to potential voters. All I've learned is that the average voter can only be reached with bright colours, 3 words or less, and constant repetition. People don't have the attention span for much more than that.

Those ads work. My 60yo mother told me, "I don't know much about him but he just seems sneaky to me for some reason."

And then I later saw the intentionally sinister red-washed ads and it all made sense.

Paolo Uccello dies 1475 Raphael came into contact with the works of Paolo Uccello, previously the court painter, after Uccello's death in 1475.

It seems to be flagging simply that Paolo Uccello died in 1475 (in the title of this card), and Raphael encountered these paintings some time after Paolo died, which isn't incorrect.

  • Paolo died, Raphael was born, Raphael encountered Paolo's paintings.

The description is just worded a little wonky. It probably should say something like "The death of a court painter whose art may have posthumously influenced Raphael when he was young."

The sentence in the Wikipedia article:

In Urbino, he came into contact with the works of Paolo Uccello, previously the court painter (d. 1475), and Luca Signorelli, who until 1498 was based in nearby Città di Castello.[14]
