Nei pressi del porto di Otranto c'è questa opera bellissima e terribile che ci ricorda quanto sia sbagliato usare la violenza dei respingimenti come politica di immigrazione.
Non erano africani o asiatici in questo caso, ma i vicini albanesi. A pensarci adesso, con quanti vivono in Italia senza che ci facciamo neanche caso, fa stare male
Riporto qui il testo dei pannelli che spiegano la vicenda di cronaca e la conseguente nascita dell'opera. Se siete da queste parti vale la pena passarci.
L'affondamento della Katër I Radës nelle acque del canale d'Otranto è passata alla storia come la strage del "venerdì santo".
Era il 28 marzo del 1997 quando, dopo una collisione con una nave della Marina Militare Italiana, impegnata in azioni di respingimento del fenomeno migratorio, la motovedetta albanese Katër I Radës affondava con a bordo oltre cento persone provenienti per lo più dalla città di Valona e dall'Albania Meridionale in fuga dalla guerra civile.
Morivano in mare ottantuno persone, soprattutto donne e bambini, inaugurando così la triste sequela di morti e dispersi che contraddistingue la storia recente e la cronaca del Mar Mediterraneo.
Per volontà dell'autorità giudiziaria e dietro la spinta dei parenti dei naufraghi, la Katër I Radës viene riportata in superficie per consentire il recupero dei corpi dei migranti e lo svolgimento delle indagini. Dopo quattordici anni, a conclusione del processo, viene decretata la demolizione del relitto.
L'Amministrazione Comunale di Otranto, raccogliendo l'appello delle organizzazioni di volontariato e dei liberi cittadini. chiede ed ottiene l'affidamento dell'imbarcazione con l'intento di trasformarla in un memoriale dedicato alle vittime del mare durante le migrazioni. Da qui riparte l'incredibile viaggio della Katër | Radës verso il suo definitivo approdo: Otranto e il suo porto millenario simbolo di accoglienza e solidarietà tra i popoli.
Ma come trasformare un naufragio in un segno di rinascita?
Lo scultore greco Costas Varotsos ha accettato la sfida di intervenire con la sua arte sul relitto della motovedetta albanese. Da greco vede nel naufragio della Katër, oltre che il compimento di un tragico destino umano, il segno del naufragio di una civiltà, quella europea contemporanea che ha disperso i valori dell'eredità classica. di pietà e umanità. Nello stesso tempo egli coglie nella tragedia contemporanea, che il Mediterraneo inscena quotidianamente sotto gli occhi di quella parte di umanità impotente. il segno di una ripartenza.
"L'Approdo. Opera all'Umanità Migrante". prima ancora di un monumento, prima di una scultura è un percorso di risarcimento culturale e morale, di presa di coscienza della comunità di Otranto, della sua vocazione all'accoglienza, della sua apertura verso l'altro, del suo rapporto con il mare. La storia della Katër I Radës viene così assunta a simbolo delle migrazioni di tutti i tempi e di tutte le latitudini, a gli approdi, di simbolo di tutti tutte le terre promesse. Un luogo in cui fermarsi. riflettere e magari, attraverso l'arte, provare a fare i conti prima di tutto con la propria coscienza di rappresentanti di quel nord del mondo paralizzato dalla paura di perdere quel poco o molto che si è conquistato ed incapace di fermare quel "nuovo olocausto" che ogni giorno si consuma nel Mare Mediterraneo.

I use a poncho from decatholon when it rains and it works fine. I also have a couple rain overshoes, because the feet aren't protected.
All in all i think that for my case this is the best solution, because it doesn't rain often, the climate here is warm (the poncho is better for sweat than a rain jacket) and we have no strong winds, which would make you fly with a poncho

Milan has 51 cars for 100 inhabitants, which is the double of other big cities in Europe, like Madrid (291,3) o Paris (225,2). One of the consequences is that traffic is terrible, and Milan is, for example, one of the worst cities on TomTom traffic index
Another big consequence is that motorists will park cars everywhere, because the number of legal on-street parking spots much lower than needed (the number of on-street parking spots is already much higher than other similar European cities) . If you have ever been in Milan, you would know that you can find cars parked on the sidewalks, on the bike lanes, between the trees at the side of the road, on zebra crossings, at the corners of intersections, at the bus stops, double parked (take a look at the pictures in this article to get an idea). This is a big issue, because people with reduced mobility, parents with strollers, people with sight issues are strongly impaired by this situation. Moreover an average of 5 times every day, public transit (trams and buses) gets stuck because of some really badly parked car, causing delays for tens or hundreds of people.
The administration is not willing to help and tolerates the status without doing much except the worst situations. They fear that this will impact their popularity, and may lose next elections. It is a well known fact that getting a ticket for illegal parking is so rare, that it costs less than a legal payed parking spot!
People was so fed up with the situation that and association called "Sai che puoi?" was able to organize an event to count and map illegally parked cars during the night of May 16th. It took a long time and effort, with some tests on a few blocks performed in the past. They also did a great social campaign with posts and videos like this one , and developed a web app on purpose.
The results were astonishing: 2000 people took part, and were able to walk all the 1700 km of the 3780 streets in the city and count illegally parked cars, divided by parking location (on the street, on the sidewalks, between the trees)

This means that the city administration could get 5.3 million euros of tickets in one night, which means the equivalent of 134000 public transit month tickets.
The final aim is to force the administration to act and do something. The idea is that neglecting the issue with such numbers should be more difficult.
I think this is a great story, and I never heard of something like this from anywhere else. I want to say thank you to the organizers and I would love to get this event known outside Italy

But the army mentioned in the news would be the one used to fight wars, with uniform and automatic weapons, not Carabienieri
