This is a modem. It function like today modem. Your PC - model - line to outer world.

The line to outerworld nowaday is fiber optic cable. Long ago, we use phone line. A bit more years back then, we put the whole "handset" to the modem so our modem can "talk" to server using machine language, in voice (boop beep boop beep)

Terminal is where you enter text, send to your computer, and it send some text back. This is a terminal on modern computer. Modern computer have terminal bundle in with the computer too. terminal

But in 1970s-1980, computer are big, it is more a server than a computer. You need a separate device to connect to your computer, type command and send to your computer. That device call a terminal. It still function same way today: you type text in, it send to computer, it get response, show to you.

Terminal also print text history to paper, or show on screen, or both, depend on device you get.

So, when company, factory owner, or who sell service/good get together, and talk how much they will charge consumer, it is price fixing.

So, I just thinking, worker are those who sell larbor. Worker band together, which we call worker union, to decide how much they should ask from their employer, seem similar to price fixing.
