It's not that it's that important, but what I saw from Fairphone 1 or 2 (I don't know which model exactly, maybe even 3) was really underwhelming. Not that my current phone makes epic photos, otoh it cost me about third of a Fairphone. Their mission is great and that's why I'd consider phone from them. I wouldn't mind slower CPU or less storage for my needs, but not improving camera from my current phone doesn't make sense for me to switch.

How is camera on that? I remember earlier Fairphones were pretty bad in this regard, which was a deal breaker for me.

We're about to buy a few new laptops at work. My boss is hardcore Dell fan, I need to prove him it's no better than anything else on the market.

I'm suggesting either Thinkbook (cheap option, comparable specs cost 2/3 of Dell) or Probook/Elitebook which are still considerably cheaper than Dell in my country.

So basically attaching regular PC to the TV...

Microsoft make big buck by everyone and their dog having Windows PC and paying for O365. Especially corpos, that also pay for Teams, skype, azure, etc.

I'd recommend some post-rock stuff too. Sigur Ros with symphonic orchestra is amazing.

Or things like Neil on impression, Nice wings Icarus, some Mono and such.

There's much, MUCH more. I'd start with more mild stuff like Nightwish or such, though. And on the other side there are even obscure things like Sear Bliss :-)

Can it be biological? I'm approaching 40 and I've been asked to show ID buying alcohol until I got fed up and grew some beard... I don't use this kind of products, I'm happy to live with just soap and shampoo and when it's reeeeeealy hot outside and I just need to go out for long period of time I use whatever sunscreen I can find.

If it's one of those race car 6 point belts it's pretty much impossible.

Technically it is. Producing it gives you feeling of achievment (depending of the product size) while consuming costs you your dignity.

I have two problems with this.

  1. I consider Razer the most over-hyped and over-priced peripheral producer. The products I've seen were not bad, but did cost at least twice as much as their feel suggested. I don't want to support this.
  2. Tilt-wheel. Every mouse I've held that had tilt wheel was PITA in the long run. I probably grip the mouse wrong, but I very often tilted the wheel instead pressing the button.

Soldering should be fine, this will probably end up as long winter evening project at some point. Was it possible to re-use gliders after dismembering the mouse?

Swelling problem won't be fixed as easy. The material of the wheel just expanded, the rubber is twice as big as new one to the point it can't fit in its hole in the mouse. Internet is full of the same problems, it was either defective batch or it reacts with some specific agent in some people's sweat. Never the less, the only way is to replace the whole wheel. Need to find out which of my friends have a 3D printer...

Hello, not sure whether this is right place to ask, but I'll ask anyway. I'm looking for mouse replacement, but I do need the mouse to be quieter than your usual "click click clik", as I often use it in the evening in a room with other people sleeping. Usage is about 50:50 office and single player gaming, so I don't need the best sensor tracking or the fanciest RGB (I nor need nor want that at all), I just want well working, silent mouse.

I hold my mouse mostly in claw/fingertip grip, so I can't operate something big, Deathadder-like. Ambidextrous shape is fine (maybe even preferred), as long as it has 2 thumb buttons on the left side. I used to have Logitech G305 which was almost perfect, except for 2 things: 1) very loud clicks and 2) mouse wheel got nasty swollen over time to the point it stopped rolling at all.

I'm using something people describe as "PWNAGE symm 2 clone" from local store brand, that is exactly what I need (smaller shape, silent), but its sensor is somehow starting to act weird after like 3 years? It's been discontinued so I can't buy replacement one.

Or if you know better place to ask (other than /r/...), I'd be glad. Thank you very much!

Hello, I just finished the game I was playing (Book of Demons, would give it 7/10) and I'm looking what to play next.

I don't have as much time for gaming as I used to (job, children, etc.) so I usually have about an hour at the evening to play. Some games are tough to fit into this because it breaks immersion too much and everyday having to remember when I left just to quit soon after is just... tedious? Wrong? Idk and I don't want to spoil good games with it.

My friend gifted me Disco Elysium for christmas and it looks ver promising. But is it possible to squeeze it into this schedule? Or does it break the game too much? Thank you for your input.

Hello everyone, I hope I came to the right place to ask my stupid question. I'm currently working in a company that stuck way way back in time. I'm talking some people are still working in DOS level back in time. There is some revamping of this in progres, but it's going to be a long run.

The "IT department" (called computing department, lol) consist basically of 2 people, boss and me. Boss loves the old days, he's "happily" using Win XP on his computer and hates everything newer than Win7, although half of everything he tries to do doesn't work there anymore (and don't even start with security of the OS). Anyway... that's about the company background and what to expect.

During currently ongoing upgrades to get this company at least to 21st cwntury, there will be some sw licencing happening. I'm expecting like buying dozens of Office 2021 keys and some other standalone soft too. But there's problem with managing those keys, as there is no precedence, no rules and everything's going to be from the scratch almost. People are coming and going, PCs are dying (remember, there are still some DOS machines), hard drives replacing, etc. etc. Windows domain? Not in this company. Ever.

So, how do you keep track of what is installed and where? Thank you very much.

Browsing the web I came across this (meta) search engine. From the first glance, it seems promising and giving quite a good results to my searches. Definitely better than Google, Bing or DDG, which tend to be full of SEO/ads/AI bullshit these days. Does anyone use it?

It somehow implies it's open source and indeed there is github https://github.com/PresearchOfficial too, but I can't find any link from the presearch.com itself to it. It's just... IDK, weird?
