Nah when faced with crises there is something wrong with conserving the status quo. Never mind that modern conservatives are actually regressives who want to undo past progress.

Some people mean it literally, in that viewpoint the system of policing itself is a problem and is not necessary in a fair and just society.
You will no doubt ask some trivial questions about this, but I'm just going to say up front that I'm not here to debate it.
You can read about police abolition and anarchism for some perspectives.
Who cares about imperialist arguments about territory ownership anyway? The people living in a territory should have self determination.
Yes I'm aware this isn't how things work, but I'm not going around making imperialist arguments about who should be subjugated by whom.
fair point! France did it twice :)
TBH I share much of your skepticism but even so I support taxing the money away from these people even if it's simply burned in a big pile.
We need to put a cap on lifestyles, I'm sure most people will disagree and think that it's a violation of freedom but these people are violating the social contract.
If someone comes to the theater and talks loudly during the movie while reeking up the theater, we'd be OK intruding on their rights. People globetrotting on private jets and yachts with helicopters and other yachts on them are farting in our theater. Take it all away from them and ask them to leave so we can all enjoy the show.
The threat and urgency of climate change is all the more reason to take that money and apply it to those problems. Not only does that help tackle the issue directly, it takes resources away from the biggest contributors to the problem. You have asshole rich fucks commuting to the office by private jet.
Why do you assume the taxes have to go hand in hand with investing in war?
I support a wealth tax as well, but even taxing income aggressively is a good start especially if it includes higher capital gains taxes.
I'm not super familiar with US tax law, but in Canada benefits like stock are taxed as income when granted. This would still be great.
Not only do capitalists promote right wing populism (because as you say, it doesn't challenge capital), they similarly squash left wing populism.
Look how many progressives were primaried out recently in the US because of their anti-genocide stance and other leftist values.
so we're just going to skip past all of those examples got it
China's per capita carbon output is lower than the US and Canada and their solar and battery technology is looking like the best in the world right now. It's part of why the US is taking protectionist measures against Chinese green technologies.
This while still being a manufacturing economy for the most part, i.e. making things for the rest of the world to consume. It's easier to go green in a service economy.
It's not controversial to say China is doing a lot more and moving faster towards their environmental goals. We have people all over the world studying and writing about this.
Where's your info from? Gut?
"even democracies" as if China isn't pretty much kicking every western democracy's ass at going green right now...
I don't support China's authoritarian state but being in a liberal democracy is exactly why we're having a hard time, corporations buy and sell political will in a liberal democracy.
End capitalism
A 160hz refresh rate gives the software a 6ms render budget, do things actually even run at that rate?
