TIL, cool for them.

I use other YT forks and systems that already implement similar techniques even if they are "good" or "bad" ads.

I am also for Sailing the High Seas.

We have a difference in opinion on this matter, but thanks for the small chat and the link!

This is the section you are talking about:

SponsorBlock

This year, a developer worked on implementing support for SponsorBlock in NewPipe. SponsorBlock is a crowd-sourced database listing sponsored sections in videos, which are automatically skipped by clients such as web browsers, using extensions.

While SponsorBlock’s implementation apparently takes care to preserve user privacy (you can, e.g., download the entire database for offline use, and its regular querying system is also well made), it targets an ethical advertising system. Its purpose is to help users, who probably don’t realise that sponsorship is one of the most ethical ways to fund their favorite content, automatically skip sponsored sections of videos.

Morally, it’s a very questionable system. Of course, some sponsoring may be of little relevance to the user, or maybe even intrusive or hidden. But SponsorBlock doesn’t differentiate between ethical and unethical advertisements. It just skips all kinds of sponsored sections.

That’s not your opinion.

Okay.

Not all ads are invasive soul seeking tracking nightmares

Ads are ads; it doesn't matter if they are "good" or "bad," unless you want to watch them like most people do because they don't mind or they don't know how to block them.

no, there are not “many ways” for content creators to do that full-time.

If they do not get the engagement or funds they need, they will either paywall or find other ways to support themselves; or they will just not make it on YouTube or streaming, like many people before them, unless they continue to fight on while learning and failling.

This reminds me of some small business talks; it is a harsh capitalistic world; you give up or keep trying.

I still say grassroots funding and support is the way to go if they are just doing it for the hobby or for what they believe.

IMO: Ads are ads, even if they come from the creator themselves.

People will support them if they can and if they want to.

Many ways to support them, direct funding, talking about them, making communities, and other stuff.

Jumping in:

My Android is my primary device so I don’t get the alt text.

Use a YT fork, you can customize it to some of your liking; Some come with SponsorBlock enabled right out of the box.

Yeah, I just click on video to check titles, unless you copy and paste yt url then go to a front-end website.

Or Louis Rossmann yt fork...

Hip hop community might show more love for ICP!

Insane Clown Posse, often abbreviated as ICP, is an American hip hop duo. Formed in Detroit in 1989, ICP's best-known lineup consists of rappers Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. Insane Clown Posse performs a style of hardcore hip hop known as horrorcore and is known for its elaborate live performances. The duo has earned two platinum and five gold albums. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the entire catalog of the group had sold 6.5 million units in the United States and Canada as of April 2007. The group has established a dedicated following called Juggalos numbering in the "tens of thousands". Originally known as JJ Boyz and Inner City Posse, the group introduced supernatural and horror-themed lyrics as a means of distinguishing itself stylistically. The duo founded the independent record label Psychopathic Records with Alex Abbiss as manager, and produced and starred in the feature films Big Money Hustlas and Big Money Rustlas.

Below made me chuckle, hahaha:

During episode 56 of Palcast, Shaggy 2 Dope was asked if the use of Auto-Tune in this track was meant as a criticism of modern rappers or if ICP were just trying out a new style. He responded:

"None of your business. It’s not a Q and A. Actually, it kind of is. I don’t fuckin' know, man. […] I don’t hate on [Auto-tune…] If it’s over-used, it sounds like shit. It’s gotta be used very strategically, I think."

Shaggy’s refusal to give a clear answer likely implies that he had little to do with the song compared to Violent J, who raps every verse.^[[1] https://genius.com/Insane-clown-posse-nobodys-fault-lyrics]

IMO: Political tribalism.

They might be following the online narrative that the game is getting in their circles.

I check out other social media, so I see a bit of both sides.

On the other end, it is a really popular game that did not follow the PC culture wars that other games follow, per Sweet Baby Inc..

Sweet Baby Inc. is a Canadian narrative development and consultation studio based in Montreal. Founded by former Ubisoft developers, including scriptwriter Kim Belair and product manager David Bédard, the company consults on video game narratives during development to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within game narratives and studios.

LMK if I am wrong or if anyone has more information.

Pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel activists claim targeting Zionists isn’t antisemitic because not all Jews identify as Zionists; new policy shows school disagrees, given that most Jews do

In July, Meta banned the use of “Zionist” as a cover for attacks on Jews or Israelis on its platforms. Now, NYU, which like many universities became embroiled in pro-Palestinian unrest during the last school year year, appears to be the first college to take a stance on the term’s use.

If I'm gonna tell it, then I gotta tell it all (All)

“Confessions Part II” is a song by R&B singer Usher, produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox for Usher’s fourth album Confessions. Written by Usher, Dupri and Cox, the song is a confession of a man to his woman about his impregnated mistress, a continuation of “Confessions Part I”, which relates to a man’s infidelity. Its personal content evoked rumors and early responses from the public even before its release, believing that Usher was asserting the truth; however, Dupri divulged that the story behind the album is his and Usher explained that he only took inspiration from his friends' similar experiences.^[[1] https://genius.com/Usher-confessions-part-ii-lyrics]

Polls show that a Kennedy withdrawal would probably help Trump more than it hurts him. But if it does, it’s at the margins — though small margins have ended up deciding recent presidential elections.

From 1993 Album: "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.".....

Tupac Amaru Shakur born Lesane Parish Crooks; June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), also known by his stage names 2Pac, Makaveli, and Pac, was an American rapper and actor. As of 2007, Shakur has sold over 75 million records worldwide. His double disc albums All Eyez on Me (1996) and his Greatest Hits (1998) are among the best-selling albums in the United States. Shakur is consistently ranked as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time, and he has been listed and ranked as one of the greatest artists of any genre by many publications, including Rolling Stone, which ranked him 86th on its list of The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. On April 7, 2017, Shakur was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Shakur began his career as a roadie, backup dancer, and MC for the alternative hip hop group Digital Underground, eventually branching off as a solo artist. Most of the themes in Shakur's songs revolved around the violence and hardship in inner cities, racism, and other social problems. Both of his parents and several other people in his family were members of the Black Panther Party, whose ideals were reflected in his songs. During the latter part of his career, Shakur was a vocal participant during the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry, becoming involved in conflicts with other rappers, producers, and record-label staff members, most notably The Notorious B.I.G. and the label Bad Boy Records. Apart from his career in music, Shakur was also an actor, starring in various films and TV programs in the 1990s, including Poetic Justice (1993), Gang Related (1997) and Gridlock'd (1997).

On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was taken to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he died from his injuries six days later.

Although Shakur began recording in 1987, his professional entertainment career did not take off until the early 1990s when he debuted in Digital Underground's "Same Song" from the soundtrack to the 1991 film Nothing but Trouble, and also appeared with the group in the film. The song was later released as the lead song of the Digital Underground extended play (EP) This Is an EP Release, the follow-up to their debut hit album Sex Packets. Shakur appeared in the accompanying music video. After his rap debut, he performed with Digital Underground again on the album Sons of the P. Shakur went on to feature Shock G and Money-B from Digital Underground in his track "I Get Around", which ranked #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

In November 1991, Shakur released his debut solo album, 2Pacalypse Now. Though the album did not generate any "Top Ten" hits, 2Pacalypse Now is hailed by many critics and fans for its underground feel, with many rappers such as Nas, Eminem, Game, and Talib Kweli having pointed to it as inspiration. Although the album was originally released on Interscope Records, the rights to its distribution are now owned by Amaru Entertainment, the label owned by Shakur's mother. The album's name is a reference to the 1979 film Apocalypse Now.

2Pacalypse Now generated significant controversy for numerous reasons. The songs "Trapped" and "Brenda's Got a Baby" were widely noted for their poetic qualities but also offered strong critiques of unjust social policies. Dan Quayle criticized the album after a Texas youth's defense attorney claimed he was influenced by 2Pacalypse Now and its theme of police brutality before shooting a state trooper. Quayle said, "There's no reason for a record like this to be released. It has no place in our society." Shakur stated that he felt he had been misunderstood. He said, "I started out saying I was down for the young black male, you know, and that was gonna be my thang," Shakur said. "I just wanted to rap about things that affected young black males. When I said that, I didn't know that I was gonna tie myself down to just take all the blunts and hits for all the young black males, to be the media's kicking post for young black males.

His second studio album, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z..., was released in February 1993. The album did better than its predecessor both critically and commercially, debuting at number 24 on the Billboard 200. The album contains many tracks emphasizing Shakur's political and social views, and there are noticeable differences in production from his first effort. While 2Pacalypse Now had an indie-rap-oriented sound, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z... is generally considered Shakur's "breakout" album. It spawned the hits "Keep Ya Head Up" and "I Get Around" and reached platinum status. On vinyl, Side A (tracks 1–8) was labeled the "Black Side" and Side B (tracks 9–16) the "Dark Side". It is Shakur's tenth-biggest selling album, with 1,366,000 units moved as of 2004.

2Pac may have been a gangsta, but he had feelings too! This is a feminist anthem from Pac, with references to pro-choice politics and what one might call “rape culture”.

In a 1995 interview with LA Times journalist Chuck Philips, Tupac said:

I think the shit that I say, no one else says. Who was writing about Black women before ‘Keep Ya Head Up?’ Now everybody got a song about Black women. Who was writing about that when I was writing about that? Who was writing about their own problems? I wasn’t talking [blah blah blah], I was talking my real problems. I was really having problems with police. I was really having problems with life and just being Black and why the hell we gotta get stepped on so much? But then I’m making it, I thought I was successful when I’m still getting stepped on. How come I got a boot-print on my back and I’m successful? I just couldn’t believe that. So instead of me just bugging out and doing a post office move and just shooting everything up and going to jail for a million years, I just said, ‘Fuck it. I’m in here rapping. Why not just rap about some shit that’s really happening?’

The music video opens with an image about being dedicated to Latasha Harlins.

There are two follow-ups to this song, “Baby Don’t Cry (Keep Ya Head Up II)” and “Win (Keep Ya Head up Pt.3)” by E.D.I. Mean who is a member of 2Pac’s Outlawz.^[[1] https://genius.com/2pac-keep-ya-head-up-lyrics]
