But she weighed in every other day too so she was the correct weight every day so far. One day she's 100g over and she loses her chance for a gold medal. That's harsh AF.

I think it's too early to say if there's an impact on litter yet. It's only been a few months. I do volunteer litter picking in my area and plastic bottles are part of the waste but mostly it's other stuff, so I don't think it will make a big difference.

We have kerbside pickup so now it's just made it either more expensive or more hassle... I hate it. People who were already recycling will be the ones who bother to keep another bin for just these returnables and then go to the shop to put each one in the machine individually, then get a receipt, then go to the shop to redeem it for money. It's a huge hassle and the machines are a waste of energy and ugly.

Ireland implemented this year for plastic bottles.

I keep coming back to how it's beneficial for the corporate overlords financially to not have to have massive offices, overheads, and all those in office perks. This keeps me believing WFH is the future.

Yeah you need to compartmentalise well for it to work long term in a healthy way. A happy medium would be satellite offices or wework style allowances or something. Gives people more flexibility.

Yeah you're absolutely right but the fact is, we're burning through energy at a massive rate to power processing data for AI.

I did, yeah, sorry 😄

No, when someone on a team is doing their job, you don't call it helping, you just call it doing your job. I'm not helping by doing laundry, I'm just doing laundry. I'm not babysitting, I'm taking care of my kids. I'm not helping with cooking, I'm making dinner. And so on.

Women are the primary caregivers because men aren't doing their part, not because they aren't helping. It is their job to be a partner and an active participating adult as well as the woman's.

The kids help sometimes but the man is doing his job.

I thought the statement was more about how much energy it costs to run AI while the planet burns.

Omg sorry, I didn't see it somehow 🤦‍♀️
