That's the problem with generalizing the United States. Every state has a different approach to the problem.

Giving full economic power to the state does not make you less fascist. It actually makes it much worse.

Just a reminder to the true leftists who think they can force through their better society by giving society more power over the individual without changing the culture in the first place.

Come on, have a drink, stay for a while.

DJ Power Ten here! It's the year's best geek music and some that couldn't be included in years past. All have legitimate nerd cred in some way and something you should be able to play for your friends. Absolutely none of this has been included in years past and 90% is from this past year.

The combined geek playlist is up to 37 hours this year. We are just about to the point where you can start it at the beginning of DragonCon and never repeat a geek song.

What did I get right? What did I get wrong?

That culture comes from a lack of process and experience of large organizations. The second that a team grows beyond 7 people it has grown beyond the direct control of any one person and the culture takes on a life of it's own. If not addressed early in growth, issues typically spiral and are either not caught or are allowed to exist out of a perceived necessity.

Small organizations are nimble so they do not need to formalize cultural and HR processes in the same way that large organizations do. If the leader sees something they don't like, they address it. It isn't just about basic respect. We all bring our own cultural issues to an organization. A lack of professionalism comes hand in hand with smaller creative organizations. That's what makes them entertaining. It also enables the toxic tendencies of some people as they are allowed to slip in and as the pressure builds. Don't confuse professionalism with respect.

These things don't happen immediately either. It happens over time as people get tired and impatient so they are not on their best behavior. We all go through a storming process. That's when toxic culture can set in if good lower level leadership doesn't catch and address it. That takes training and a formal approach to organizational structure, not just production processes.

I am one of those outside consultants.

It's not idealism. If you have a better solution that is not radical by design, go ahead. I was literally not specific intentionally. Go ahead, what instrument within the current system would work that are not regulations?

The more you attempt to shift to revolution, the more you counteract real meaningful change. There are market solutions to this problem and it's called government regulation.

Successful revolution and war will not help global warming. Failure will result in a massive social shift against these ends.

"Hero of Canton" needs no introduction.

Sure but in terms of a general strike, you will know the labor that really matters and what doesn't. Critical labor in the West is compensated accordingly by the market, even by Western standards.

[–] galloog1@lemmy.world -2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I would reply asking if the people that are making these claims are actually the labor. Are service workers actually the ones producing anything? Western labor is compensated quite well relative to the rest of society which is why these ideas never go anywhere in the West. If you are not an actual laborer, why are you so pro-labor power?

I have only really gotten into his Tested content these past couple years. This is the best announcement for me even covering the past few DragonCons.
