I think your memory might be failing on this, because we’re about the same age and autosave wasn’t really a common feature in the 90s. MacOS didn’t introduce autosave until OSX Lion in 2010, and Microsoft’s auto-recover (which was their only feature even close to autosave until office365) wasn’t introduced until the 2000s and didn’t work properly until 2007.

Uvlfberth was the Remington of their day.

Looks like there are zip ties or string coming out of those holes, in which case the holes wouldn’t need to align with the metal.

Wtf? They honestly shouldn’t be able to call a software update a “recall.” They’re literally two different things. Is this just a Tesla thing, or is this some sort of new trend?

Same here. I did a little googling and can’t find any corroborating evidence, but I also learned that Hammond’s Grand Tour insurance premiums are now more expensive than Top Gear’s budgets were for entire specials.

Were Richard Hammond’s many crashes a result of cost skimping? If so, I had no idea. Could you elaborate?

Probably an unintentional mistake rather than a concious design decision. I think they used a transparent background instead of white, so it accidentally looks evil in night mode. To test, switch your phone out of night mode and see if it schanges the face to white along with the background.

I am unfamiliar with Matrix and just read their website, but I’m still kind of confused as to the importance of a new release sub-version to this general technology community. This may be a stupid question, but does matrix provide infrastructure for the fediverse or something?

Edit: thanks for all the informative replies. I understand perfectly now, but I’m still confused as to why this was posted here. I’ve never seen software release notes posted before, so i don’t get why this is important enough to be here with such a high upvote percentage. Anyone have any insights on that to help my stupid brain make sense of this?

On every lemmy app/instance I’ve checked, it seems that the post and comment scores on users’ profiles have been replaced by post and comment counts.

I often look at scores to quickly check a person’s credibility/involvement, and the count is much less helpful than the score in that regard. I could see this data maybe being removed because it was too server intensive to calculate, but maybe there’s some other reason.

I’ve searched and can’t seem to find any explanation for this change in release notes, but maybe I’m just not searching correctly. Does anyone know why this change was made?

And it may be illegal in some states to not offer the customer an actual refund.

The number of those comments that are deleted sure went up a couple of months ago. I wonder what happened 🤔
