I guess it has been 8 years since I had a printer XD I had an i3.

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Oh it was just the... oh crap it was like 8 years ago. I had a wanhao I3. Time doesn't feel real.

Boo are you guys gonna convince me to get a new 3d printer? Then again I know for a fact I won't be able to make stuff as cool as these guys, and I can get these for a few bucks.

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't for the dino! They mentioned it was a multi color printer, and he's a bigger print, so probably one of the more expensive ones. And the funny thing is these aren't even as smooth as they can be, as these are large prints so have larger layer sizes (smaller layers = smoother). I need to go back to the one that does tiny parts and buy the articulated wasp that had moving wings and every limb moves, despite being printed as one piece.

But yeah it's crazy that you can just go buy a toy factory for a few hundred dollars and make custom toys, with high end ones being only like 2k. It's so cool not only for custom toy makers, but the boon they are for proto typing any product is crazy. Like the guy making the light sabers can try a new design for a few dollars, whereas previously he probably would have had to order a custom piece from a factory for who knows how much.

I mean Mr Beast is the biggest youtuber and he's nothing but a zoomer game show host XD Taking shows like survivor that would be an entire season, and turning it into a 20 minute episode.

But even on modern TV, there are a ton of new ones https://www.rottentomatoes.com/browse/tv_series_browse/genres:game_show~sort🔄

That is so freaking cool!

Like I'm trying to fathom how I would make an "accurate" one without a 3d printer as a teen and I just don't see it. Paper machete was the popular choice, but those wouldn't be accurate, they would be considered decoration. If your parents were master wood workers maybe they could do it that way? But those sound out rageously expensive and if one breaks you're SOOO sol. Whereas with this once she got all the files she can get a new one made for a trip to the library or $20 order.

And now instead of a picture with notes or dried flowers they have such wonderful props! Very much the type of thing I'm loving 3d printers for.

Yeah offering people a chance to escape poverty and then watching them lose that hope is pretty brutal.

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Fair enough! Yeah a lot of people complain about Mr Beast, but I've yet to see something that isn't a knock off of other game shows, so that's why I was curious if people in general just have turned against the more insane game shows.

90% of his game shows are survivor/big brother knock offs, which sounds like you probably detest as well.

Price is right is pretty chill! feel like people are less likely to wanna commit suicide over not winning compared to some other shows.

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah I guess for me the mr beast stuff are almost always just exact clones of other game shows so that's why I'm like... I wonder if Mr beast is just bringing out the fact that a lot of people hate the more insane game shows.

Wait, he doesn't have giant conflict of interests?

Weird.

I feel like they could be the main characters in a dozen different movies.

Buddy cop film where old style cop has to team up with young tech assassin.

Average man tries to solve a murder while being hunted by a cyborg

Young group of hackers led by this woman is being hunted by corrupt police as they try to expose the government.

Like either one of them could be the protagonist or antagonist of any number of movies depending on the genre, or team up for a clash of styles type think.

I want them to be in a buddy cop movie together. The young tech assassin and old no nonsense cop.

I'm afraid it's nothing fun.

I had two cats, one young, one old.

My old 17 year old cat passed recently, and my 3 year old cat has been super erratic for months since. I've tried tons of things from calm down treats, pheromones, different toys... he's just a very unhappy young cat. He runs around just meowing a ton at random times, which he never did before. There is my room mates cat so there is another cat, but my cat has 0 interest in this other cat. He's unhappy.

I'm hoping maybe I can hide this in different places each day and he'll have something to hunt when it makes a noise and give him a sense of schedule and things to do?

I've tried most of the advice I can find online, so now I'm trying to make things up. I didn't give very many details because I knew if I did, I'd just get a whole ton of advice that I already tried.

Most are made up and silly.

The only one I've liked was in college I did a "communication style" one. Where it showed a bunch of different like emails, posts, and conversations and asked which you preferred to receive and which you were likely to write.

10 years later I still think about it, cause the goal of the work was to talk about how if you're a certain communication style what to keep in mind with communicating with others. Like tips to not get frustrated with yellows who don't care about facts when sending emails and how to write emails that don't bore and frustrate people if you're blue. (I'm blue green. I can sometimes write long emails)

I thought about it the other day cause a guy was complaining about all these emails that didn't seem to say anything, they were just about feeling good, and he just wanted them to spit it out. Which corresponded to firey red getting mad at green.

So with that context, do you have any that actually had an impact on you?

I love fantasy, but fantasy series are kind of nefarious for some... problems.

Series that drag on to reach an arbitrary number, creating a number of filler books. (8/9/10 of a certain series comes to mind for "filler books" )

Series that keep going for so long and lose the thread, straight up making what happened in previous books seem silly and irrelevant.

Books that vary wildly in quality (book 10, shout out to you again)

Series that aren't finished (GRRM fans, you might get your books if he lives long enough. King Killer chronicle fans... I'm sorry, but the author is dead even if the man remains).

I just really wanna try a bunch of fantasy standalone novels from different authors. But I can't for the life of me find a website that'll let me do that. Amazon will say after clicking on it "book 1 of x", so like the information is there, but I can't find any website that let's me search for it. I can find websites that list like "Top x standalone novels of the year" but those are usually really click baity.

"Finished series only" filter would be sick as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

I try to stream my favorite games, and I will get small audiences because I do events in the online games. But whenever I try to edit or listen back I feel like I'm in pain.

Is it really annoying, or is it just that everyone hates their voice?

It's a website that lets you sort amazon by price per ounce/pound/count

https://bangyourbuck.com/

Some examples are:

Cheapest rice per pound https://bangyourbuck.com/search/rice/Lb/US/grid

Cheapest batteries by count: https://bangyourbuck.com/search/aa%20batteries/Count/US/grid

Hard drives by terabyte: https://bangyourbuck.com/search/hard%20drive/Terabyte/US/grid

Been using it for months, and I can't stand using Amazon without it now.

The people who say they need 3 cups of black coffee to start their day are just addicts with a high tolerance that experience mild withdrawal symptoms each morning.

If you feel like that, it's your body crying for you to take a break.

If you like an occasional cup of coffee or energy drink to get through something, then that's fine. But if you ever feel like one isn't working like it used to, you should take a break from caffeine to reset your tolerance, not up the dosage like an addict.

In Utah County the cheapest "House" for sale is 600 square feet, 2 bed, 1 bath, at $300k.

So at current interest rate it would be $1,800 a month mortgage(assuming you put the 60k down payment! A decent amount more if you do 3% down.)

The cheapest condo/town in utah valley is 205k, 1,100 square feet, on a 400 square foot lot. But due to a $500 HOA fee the monthly cost is still 1,700 a month (assuming 20% down).

With 3.5% down they'd both be closer to 2.1k +PIMI.

So yeah, how is where you live doing?

Small town, making first real friend, falling in love, realizing there is more to life than career success.

It's all there.

That kid would have gotten a million death threats and his house maybe burned down if in the real world if he came out with evidence to try and discredit someone's favorite dead celebrity.

I grew up with $20 walmart blenders, and hated anything that required a blender.

Recently bought a ninja and there is no going back. I'll never use a crappy blender again.

Anything else like that?

For me, crepes ain't worth the stress to make fresh. Just buy a little pack from store and focus on filling is my go to.

This is just one of my favorite videos on the internet, and I wish PE teachers were this smart and kind in elementary school. Because I remember everyone trying to do pull ups for the test and most people couldn't do any. But like... if they had taught us how to do intermediary ones and had us do them before the test we actually would have succeeded and learned the importance of building up to exercises.

Which I feel like would have been a much better education compared to having half the class fail to do a pull up.

After a certain point in popularity it is assumed the celeb is going to sooner or later:

Be doxxed

Have death threats thrown at them

Be sexually harassed

Have police called on them

Then we have all the Vtubers who are Hannah Monatanning it up and straight chilling. Ironmouse has never been swatted, but by God some people would if they could, and others would probably show up at her house to show their "love".

Dream is an example of someone who shouldn't have let out who he was IMO because the attacks against him seemed to become a lot more real once there was a real human name, face, and location. Like I would have gone to the grave as Dream with how many people hated him before his face reveal.
