IDK what the fuck you guys have been watching for the last two months. I've been watching a genocide unfold with unaninmous bipartisan support. If you can see that and don't think both parties are beyond redemption, you're part of the problem.

I'm assuming we're talking about the actual parties/politicians here, not the people.

The comparisons to the Nazis are actually inescapable. I struggle to think of a centrally orchestrated and mechanized system of apartheid/oppression and now genocide that's more similar.

I don't think that's "the problem." There's been a global resurgence of actual fascism over the last 20 years. Nationalistic, racist, xenophobic, dictatorially structured, scapegoatism, corporatist, all the boxes checked. It's been my experience people complaining about the term being "watered down" have dipped their own toe too much in that pool, i.e., they think some elements of it are excusable, sympathize with the actual fascist figures, and hence rush to their defense.

Fascism never caught on anywhere with the public in any country because the whole population was all suddenly cartoon villains. The public got sold a belief system that was appealing to them, that made sense to them, that's how they fell for it. They'd put in elements of truth into what they were saying, or appeal to basic grievances that the population had.

We're just doing the whole routine with the underground railroad and civil war all over again, aren't we. This country is so stupid.

You missed a spot there Elon. You know what we industry professionals do - it's called a "design process". You:

• Mock up the way you want it to look
• Make it look that way
• Then you push it live.

It's a whopping two sides of a scale, which doesn't unambiguously refer to "individualism" or "collectivism", also referring vaguely to associations with dozens of other issues. So it's actually a worse way of describing those ideas than saying "individualist" or "collectivist", because you're no longer even specifically saying that. And "individualist" vs. "collectivist" is already a terrible way to categorize all political ideas. What does abortion have to do with collectivism? How about zoning laws, or environmental protection?

This is the issue...left vs. right has nothing to do with any one issue, in fact it actually serves completely to distract people from the specifics of issues, because instead of actually figuring out the nuance of something, people fall back on their group identity and go, "well if the leftists hate it, then it must be good, because fuck the left!"
