I think it's mostly the third. There's lots of escapism readily and effectively available, both practical and ideological.

I think the oppressors just got too good at their job, in a way.

I was hoping for some Proxmox magic dynamic allocation of resources, CPU cores and RAM between the two VMs. I have 16Gb RAM anyway so I should have plenty...

I guess I'll play around starting from those much needed USB to SATA powered cables.

There a dozens of us!

So I guess I can build a new VM and this won't impact too heavily on my computational power (mostly Jellyfinn streaming 1080p stuff), correct?

Is there any way around the impending... running out of USB? Would a usb-C dongle be a nono?

Either way, thanks for the great answer.

Hi,

I've been playing with a Dell mini PC (OptiPlex 7070) that I set up with Proxmox and a single Debian virtual machine that hosts a bunch of containers (mostly an *arr stack).

All the data resides on the single SSD that came with the machine, but I'm now satisfied with the whole ordeal and would like to migrate my storage from my PC to this solution.

What's the best approach software side? I have a bunch of HD in of varying size and age (therefore expected reliability) and I'd initially dedicate such storage to data I can 100% afford to lose (basically media).

I read I should avoid USB (even though my mini PC exposes a USB-C) for reliability, but on the other hand I'm not sure what other options I have that doesn't force me to buy a NAS or properly sized HD to install inside the machine...

Also, what's a good filesystem for my usecase?

Thank for any tips.

My heart goes to all the poor souls waiting for their Cybertrucks. They are the real heroes.

I'm pretty sure Shelter is better than Island, but I forgot the reason xD

Obtainium to grab apps and updates straight from the repositories.

GPS Logger is neat if you want to keep track of your movements now that Google won't track you anymore.

That's also a process that falls entirely under "common sense". No need for "SMART" to have a chat with your Junior and agree on what can be done to meet his desired outcome.

I'm not sure what bubble you inhabit but Google is "the top job".

Any company uttering the word "family" in 2024 is deeply out of touch. Is it common? Sadly, yes.

No, "The Game" works only as long as you accept to take part in it, to give validity to the empty statement that you are now inevitably playing "The Game".

The Basilisk is meant to force that onto you, outside of any arbitraty convention.

TIL.

It sounds like it's mostly a matter that does not involve the AI but the people working on it, maybe even working on it because of the fear they are subjected to after being the subject of this revelation (possibly by other people involved in the AI that coincidentally are the only ones that could push for such a thing to be included in the AI!).

Something something any cult, paradise/hell, God/AI has nothing to do with this and could even not exist at all.

I'm on LineageOS since 2016, something may have changed but I usually look up their supported hardware and pick a phone based on that. You may have to look at something relatively recent or you could end up meeting the end of their official support, which then goes into some les reliable unofficial support by random people you can find mostly on XDA.

Personally I'm looking next to a second hand Pixel, mostly out of curiosity.

Edit: forgot to address the "why": to keep in touch with society without letting strangers access to my stuff.
