Both are insulation foam painted to look like wood. That worked great for the sign, but the post was actually not quite sturdy enough, and broke not long after this photo. Fortunately I was able to set aside the broken bit and just be somewhat more careful with the shorter post, and then I remade the post with a metal core to give it some extra strength and rigidity

I’d be shocked if they hadn’t heard that before

Honestly no, I was mostly subscribed to smaller subs, and only the general communities here really have a critical mass. I’m definitely interacting more with general communities, but I really miss communities around niche interests.

I have hope that they will be here with time, but for now there’s a bunch of empty communities with no posts and a mod who has never posted anything anywhere, just made a few dozen communities with the names of popular subreddits, and even many the communities that aren’t in that situation have 3-4 posts and a couple dozen subscribers

From Dragoncon 2022 - I haven't played the game myself, but I had a group of friends that were doing it, so I picked one that seemed fun and joined in! The beak is laser-cut craft foam, and the feathers are all laser-cut and airbrushed fabric. The jacket was substantially modified to add relevant details (including an attached vest, not visible when I'm washed up on shore) and the rest of the outfit is closet/amazon cosplay. The communicator is an inflatable we made ourselves. I had to remake the back from scratch to get something that would scale up that big, and we got it custom printed. It works as a costume as well (with legs sticking out the bottom), but is fairly unpleasant, so we determined it was better as a prop. edit: Editing to see if the post will federate
